Haryana Extension Lecturer Welfare Association's Protest Against The Government Is Set For October 2

Dr. Sumer Siwach, speaking at the event, elaborated on the various demands of the Extension Lecturers and called for a peaceful demonstration in Sector 5, Panchkula, on October 2. Furthermore, the association's representatives announced their intention to march toward the Chief Minister's House as part of their protest. Dr. Siwach emphasized the participation of a significant number of supporters in this peaceful demonstration.

Dr. Charan Singh Grover emphasized the significant contribution of extension lecturers, who have dedicated their prime years to the government during times of necessity. He highlighted the plight of his colleagues who, having joined as extension lecturers in 2010-2011, are no longer eligible to apply for regular recruitment due to the maximum age limit requirements for government jobs. As a result, they are left at the mercy of college principals.

Dr. Ishwar Singh revealed his numerous attempts to engage with higher education officials, the department minister, and even the Chief Minister regarding their demands, only to receive assurances without concrete action. He clarified that extension lecturers have never opposed regular recruitment and pointed out that approximately 4100 positions remain vacant in the department, while around 2000 extension lecturers are actively working. Dr. Ishwar Singh advocated for the regularization of existing extension lecturers and fresh recruitment to fill the remaining vacancies, ensuring a brighter future for new candidates.

Dr. Saroj Dahiya echoed the sentiments of her colleagues, highlighting the challenges faced by extension lecturers and emphasizing the need for job regularity, particularly for high-achieving academics. The conference thus served as a platform for these educators to voice their concerns and advocate for their rights and the betterment of the education system in Haryana.
