Daayra attempts to tell a socially relevant story by looking at the darker realities of society and the way in which ordinary people can fall prey to circumstances, prejudice and injustice. Rather than presenting its subject as pure entertainment, the film aims to exploit the art of cinema to draw attention to disturbing truths about society.
Daayra is about a disturbing case that forces the police to face difficult questions about justice and punishment. The story is inspired by an event in which four men accused of raping and killing a young girl were brought to the scene of the crime by police in order to reconstruct the scene, only to be murdered later on. This caused a bigger debate about whether punishment could be meted out without the existence of law.

Kareena-Prithviraj Off Chemistry: Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kareena Kapoor Khan fail to achieve the desired chemistry as expected by viewers. The performances of both lead actors are competent, but they did not display chemistry strong enough for the audience to feel impressed. One particular aspect that does not work well enough in the film is the portrayal of the main character. While the character is indeed crucial, it fails to leave the impact as often as required. The actor's performance could have been more powerful and convincing in some of the key scenes.
Lack of Consistency in the Second Half: The movie loses the momentum built up in the beginning. The second half fails to be as absorbing as the opening part. As a result, the film feels uneven.
