MS Dhoni turned back the years and scored 37 runs off only 16 balls against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. But despite all his efforts, CSK lost to DC by 20 runs in what was their first loss of the tournament. This was Dhoni's first innings this season, and he made it a spectacle for all his fans and cricket fans in general.

The crowd in Visakhapatnam erupted when Dhoni came to bat, and they witnessed Dhoni hitting a boundary on the very first ball against Mukesh Kumar. The fireworks continued when he smashed 20 runs in the last over to give CSK fans something to celebrate even in a loss. DC, on the other hand, will be happy with their performance as they registered their first win and points of the season.

While batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 191/5 with David Warner and Rishabh Pant hitting 52 and 51 runs, respectively. Prithvi Shaw also played a fantastic innings of 47 runs off just 23 balls. Chasing the target, CSK were dismantled by the pace of Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar. Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell tried their best to steady the ship after losing Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra early, but in the end, their efforts were not enough.

Fans will be hoping to see the same Dhoni more often this season, but they will appreciate it even more if he can help his team win as well. The defending champions, who were leading the points table, fell behind KKR due to Net Run Rate (NRR), and Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, sit 7th in the table above Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians.
