Modern Public School was honored to have Mr. Mike Massimino, former NASA astronaut, professor, and author, who came and did an engaging interactive session with the students. He was accompanied by Dr. Srimathy Kesan, CEO of Space Kidz India and space education trailblazer, and Mr. Shubham Gupta, Innovation Lead at AIM, NITI Aayog. This selfless visit, on National Science Day, reaffirmed the school's culture to encourage scientific curiosity and innovation.

The event was greeted with open arms warmly by Principal Dr. Alka Kapur, who addressed from the heart on behalf of the dignified guests' appreciation. A reflective speech by Mr. Shubham Gupta came next, on the role of Atal Tinkering Labs in developing a scientific and innovative attitude among children.

Mr. Massimino stunned the crowd with his personal experience of space travel and describing awe-inspiring stories of his spacewalks and efforts to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. He emphasized the value of persistence, creativity, and curiosity in science as determining factors to chart the course of future space travel. The highlight of the evening was his special talk with the girl students of MPS, who contributed to the Chandrayaan mission through Space Kidz India.

Dr. Srimathy Kesan also inspired the students by sharing the success story of the AzaadiSAT project, a project which allowed young girls to try making satellites. She showed her gratitude to Modern Public School for being the first and only private school in Delhi to be a part of this high-profile programme twice, thus setting a mark of excellence in STEM education.

The students of Modern Public School showcased their innovative projects on the day of the celebration, which depicted their ability to use scientific knowledge creatively. Their projects portrayed a problem-solving and experimental nature, which justified the vision of the school to produce future researchers and innovators.

The session concluded with a Q&A session, which was interactive in nature, wherein the students asked some very thoughtful questions and were lucky enough to receive thoughtful replies from the dignitaries.
