Ather Energy has released yet another teaser of its highly anticipated scooter that is built on the brand new EL platform. The company had already introduced us to the first look a few days back, and with the release of this latest video, eagerness among EV enthusiasts has only grown. The teaser signals Ather's intentions of expanding beyond its premium offerings and launching a more affordable model so that it can reach out to the masses as well.
The EL platform is a big step for the company, particularly given that the current Ather 450X and Rizta, though built upon the same platform, target very sporty and quite premium segments. With EL, though, Ather wants to democratize electric scooters and offer performance as much as affordability.
Key Features of the EL Platform
- Shared DNA with Latest Scooters: Even though the 450X and Rizta appear entirely different, they have a shared DNA. This concept is also extended with the EL platform, which is extremely versatile to accommodate a series of scooter models.
- Modular and Scalable Design: The company is emphasizing the scalability of EL. Many scooters can be manufactured by Ather from a shared foundation using this, at reasonable rates.
- Affordability Focus: Unlike its earlier scooters, which belonged to the premium segment, the primary concept of the EL project is to minimize cost of production and pass the benefit to buyers.
