THAMA Teaser Review: Ayushmann & Rashmika Mandanna Dive Into A Cheap Copy Of Twilight

Maddock Supernatural Universe has really made a name for itself in the film industry with hits like Stree, Bhediya, and their latest release, Munjya. Now, the studio is taking things up a notch with Thama, a film that promises a fresh perspective on this intriguing and dark universe. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the teaser mixes romance and horror, showcasing Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in roles that are quite different from what we’re used to seeing them in. At its heart, Thama aims to be a supernatural love story, a theme that Maddock hasn’t really tackled before.
The teaser, which runs for 1 minute and 49 seconds, kicks off with some mysterious glimpses of Rashmika and Ayushmann. Their chemistry suggests a passionately emotional and tragic love story against a supernatural landscape. The visuals point towards a vampire saga, indicating that the franchise is going darker in terms of themes. Along with some intimate scenes, the teaser also shows us action sequences, fiery confrontations, and a dash of Bollywood glamour with Malaika Arora's energetic item number. The seasoned actors Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui also have notable roles, with Nawazuddin's role already piquing interest.
On the positive side, Thama appears visually breathtaking. The haunting color scheme, crisp cuts, and haunting music all contribute to a perfect dramatic dark romantic atmosphere. The new on-screen pair of Ayushmann with Rashmika Mandanna is particularly impressive—both the actors appear to belong in the intense roles. Nawazuddin's presence is a bonus, and the teaser promises a combination of romance, thrill, and drama that will likely appeal to genre fans.
But there are some minor issues with the teaser of thama. The storyline appears to borrow quite a lot from Western vampire novels such as Twilight, which may make it seem slightly less original to some viewers. The item song, though a Bollywood staple, may possibly detract from the gravity of the romance. And since so much material is being crammed into barely two minutes, there's a fear that the film would end up being somewhat cluttered.
Overall, Thama seems to be a daring and innovative step for the Maddock Supernatural Universe. With romance at its core, it’s shaping up to be an intriguing addition to their lineup.
