Kadai Paneer which is one of the best vegetarian dishes from North Indian Cuisine without having to go to the restaurant; you need not worry anymore because you can make it very easily at home since Kadai Paneer is definitely one of the best and the most preferred North Indian dishes. This specific type of gravy is prepared through the cooking of tomatoes with some spices which have been roasted on a fire and also pepper and cheese. What makes this dish stand apart from other types of paneer preparations is the use of kadai masala in this dish.

Kadai Paneer Ingredients

  • 250g paneer, cut into cubes
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 green capsicum, cubed
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp fresh cream
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

For Kadai Masala

  • 2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 dried red chilies
  • 4 black peppercorns
  • 2 green cardamoms

Kadai Paneer Making Process

  • Dry roast the coriander seeds and cumin seeds, dried red chilies, black peppercorns, and green cardamom till aromatic on medium flame for a duration of two to three minutes and mash ingredients into fresh kadai masala upon cooling.
  • Heat oil along with butter in a kadai or deep vessel and pour the cumin seeds and wait for some seconds for crackling.
  • Next, throw in the sliced onions and sauté for a golden brown color. Ginger-garlic paste is going to be used and stir-fried for a minute or two or until it stops smelling raw.
  • After that add the chopped tomatoes in it and after that add turmeric powder, Kashmiri chili powder, coriander powder with salt and cook everything until the tomatoes become soft and oil starts to separate.
  • Add the freshly made kadai masala and mix well together.
  • Finally, pour in the capsicum and green chilies and stir fry till they are crunchy for two to three minutes.
  • Now introduce the paneer cubes into the curry and toss it well with spices. 
  • Now add half cup of water (as per requirement) and sim the flame of gas it for about five minutes.
  • After that, sprinkle some garam masala on it and after that add some fresh cream and mix it gently without breaking the cubes of paneer.
  • Your Kadai panner is ready and you can garnish the dish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot.

Enjoy enjoying Kadai Paneer hot along with accompanied with some naan, roti, paratha, or steamed jeera rice. Take some slices of onions, wedges of lemon, and some cucumber raita along with the preparation to give yourself a restaurant-like feel.
