Haryana Farmers Denied Compensation For Damaged Cotton And Paddy Crops, Express Dissatisfaction
Chandigarh, May 24, 2023: Balraj Kundu, the convener of Jansevak Manch and Independent MLA from Meham, addressed a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club today, highlighting various issues faced by farmers in Haryana, such as crop insurance discrepancies and paper leaks during Haryana State Service Commission examinations. He also criticized the state government for its shortcomings and announced his party's plan to field candidates in the upcoming assembly elections next year.
Kundu expressed concern over the mistreatment of farmers by crop insurance companies and banks. He revealed that despite farmers uploading crop damage information on the government's portal, they were not receiving compensation for cotton and paddy crops. He further alleged that insurance claims amounting to approximately Rs 800 crore were unjustly rejected without any explanation. Kundu accused the insurance company of cheating the farmers, claiming that their claims were often denied after a lengthy seven-month waiting period. Additionally, he criticized the government for imposing numerous restrictions on the farmers.
