Work Education Instructors Were Halted By The Administration From Meeting The Haryana CM About Their Demands
Work Education Instructors

Panchkula: The Work Education Instructors Committee in Haryana has been on strike since June 22, 2023, in pursuit of their demands. However, their grievances remained unaddressed, leading them to organize a program to meet with the Chief Minister of Haryana.

On a recent Tuesday, the committee members decided to peacefully leave their protest site to meet the Chief Minister and discuss their concerns. Unfortunately, their attempt was halted by the administration and the police, resulting in them sitting on the ground. During this confrontation, a female employee suffered from exhaustion and fainted.

As a response to the situation, a delegation of work instructors was taken to meet with Hon'ble Rajesh Khullar at his residence in Panchkula. Rajesh Khullar gave them assurances that their demands would be addressed promptly and requested them to meet again the following Saturday. Following this meeting, all the workers returned to their protest site. The State President of the Work Education Instructors Committee, Rajat Bhat, and his team resolved to continue their strike until their demands were met.

The root of the issue dates back to August 2014 when Work Education Instructors were employed under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in various government schools of Haryana. The strike began on June 22, 2023, as a response to the demand for the implementation of the 2013 bye-laws set by the council. Their protest has been ongoing behind Shiksha Sadan in Sector 5, Panchkula.

In a distressing turn of events, four members of the committee resorted to a hunger strike, lasting for six consecutive days, starting from August 2, 2023. Their determination led to the attention of the then Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) and now Chief Principal Secretary (CPS) Rajesh Khullar in the Haryana government. Khullar intervened by providing juice to the four fasting members, effectively ending their fast. However, despite these efforts, the department has continued to neglect their demands, prompting the recent program.

Even though the committee postponed their program temporarily after Rajesh Khullar's assurances, they remain committed to their strike until their demands are met. The situation underscores the challenges faced by work education instructors in Haryana and the determination of the committee to seek a resolution to their longstanding issues.
