MILD CASES:

• Sore throat

• Fatigue

SEVERE CASES:

• Wheezing

Until to date, no specific antiviral treatment for HMPV has been discovered. Supportive care in management of infection.
For mild Cases: Rest, hydration, over-the-counter medicines to help get rid of these symptoms.
For Severe Cases: Hospitalization would be required along with oxygen therapy or mechanical ventilation in severe conditions.

Prevention Tips

As there is no vaccine for HMPV available yet, the following simple precautions could reduce infection:

• Practice Hygiene : Wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face, and sanitize frequently touched items.
  
• Avoid Crowds : Keep proper distance in crowded or inadequately ventilated areas.
• Mask Up: Use masks in such risky areas or when there is an outbreak.
  
• Maintain Your Immunity: Maintain your immune system with a balanced diet, exercise, and proper sleep.

Research is ongoing to develop an HMPV-specific vaccine, which could significantly enhance protection against this virus.
