Rahul Gandhi Cites BJP's Politicization Of Ram Temple Event, Expressing Difficulty In Attendance
Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi has voiced reservations regarding Congress leaders attending the Ram temple consecration scheduled for January 22, citing concerns about the event being politicized by the BJP and RSS. During a press conference in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Gandhi expressed reluctance to participate in the ceremony, accusing the BJP and RSS of turning it into a "political event" centered around Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This stance follows the recent decision by Congress leadership to decline the invitation to the Ayodhya event.

Gandhi underscored the challenging nature of the decision, asserting that the consecration had taken on an election-oriented tone orchestrated by the BJP and RSS. He stated, "It is difficult for us to attend the Ram temple consecration ceremony when our principal opponents, the BJP and the RSS, have captured the function and turned it into an election event."

Shifting focus, Gandhi addressed the INDIA bloc and expressed confidence in defeating the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls through alliance efforts. He assured that seat-sharing discussions within the INDIA bloc were progressing positively, with the anticipation of resolving any minor issues that may arise.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, covering a substantial 6,713 km across 100 Lok Sabha constituencies in 15 states, aims to conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21. Gandhi emphasized the collective victory of the opposition alliance in the upcoming polls, indicating a united front against the ruling BJP.

Gandhi's decision to abstain from the Ram temple consecration ceremony underscores the political complexities surrounding the event, with the Congress leader expressing concerns about the BJP and RSS's influence in transforming a religious ceremony into a platform for political gains. As discussions within the INDIA bloc progress positively, the opposition alliance, led by Congress, aims to present a formidable challenge to the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, as highlighted by Gandhi during the press conference.
