Lok Sabha Elections 2024: PM Modi Credits Support For NDA For 60% Turnout In Phase One

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is looking to secure its third consecutive term with the slogan "Abki baar 400 paar."  The Bhartiya Janta Party relies heavily on the southern states, such as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, to achieve its objectives. The party is also depending on West Bengal as well. The opposition parties in the INDIA bloc, on the other hand, are hoping to win by promising better prices for farmers, financial aid for women, and more opportunities for marginalized communities.

Tripura and Bihar were on opposite ends of the spectrum, as they witnessed the highest and lowest turnout percentages respectively in phase 1 of the Lok Sabha Elections. Tripura's single seat recorded a polling percentage of 79.9%, whereas Bihar only saw a turnout of 47.49 percent. West Bengal and Puducherry reported 77.57% and 73.25%, respectively. 

There were some acts of violence in phase 1 of the Lok Sabha Elections as well, but overall, the voting procedure took place rather peacefully. PM Modi is optimistic about the voting, as he said that this massive turnout is due to the support the NDA is getting from the voters. Whether NDA will fulfill its objective of winning 400 seats or not will only be known at the end of the election procedure, but it's a great sight that people understand their responsibility and are turning up to vote.
