Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has officially severed ties with the Congress party, stepping down from both his political affiliation and his role as a member of the state's legislative assembly.
Chavan's resignation was communicated in a brief letter addressed to Congress state committee chief Nana Patole, where he simply stated, "I am resigning from the Congress party." Subsequently, he met with the state's legislative assembly speaker Rahul Narvekar to formalize his resignation as an MLA from the 85-Bhokar Assembly Constituency.
