Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe producer Dinesh Vijan is widening the universe that has already given hits such as Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya.
Maddock Films is set to elevate Indian horror-comedy with its new production, The World of Thama. The grand unveiling will take place on August 19, 2025, and the movie will release on cinemas this Diwali. This comes as the production unit marks the first anniversary of Stree 2, India's top Hindi film, on this year's Independence Day.
Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe producer Dinesh Vijan is widening the universe that has already given hits such as Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya. All these films are part of what Maddock refers to as its "Supernatural Universe." In Thama, however, the producers are introducing something bigger yet — a new and mighty villain that they portray as "sarvashaktishaali" (all-powerful).
There has already been a brief teaser released, which treated fans to a brief glimpse of what's in store. It set up the idea of an interconnecting narrative that will tie Thama into the rest of the Maddock supernatural films. But this time, the franchise is going to do something different — the movie will mix romance and horror in a way the franchise hasn't attempted before.
The Thama teaser also hints at a grimmer tone, with high-octane drama and a lead antagonist who may redefine fear in Bollywood. Although makers are tight-lipped about details, fans can look forward to the same blend of thrills, humor, and quirky folks Maddock is renowned for but with a new twist.
Talking about the announcement, Maddock Films pointed out the importance of releasing The World of Thama on the anniversary of Stree 2. It not only commemorates their previous success but also paves the way for a new chapter in their cinematic world.
