On Monday, the Secretary of Telecommunications, Neeraj Mittal, expressed his admiration for the production of 'excellent' products by small innovative companies. He emphasized the desire to see the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector not only competing for public sector tenders but also thriving in the private sector. Mittal, a top official in the Department of Telecommunications, stated that the government aims to enhance the Production Linked Incentive Scheme, calling for input from small and cottage industries for the improvement of this scheme and the formulation of new, superior plans.
Mittal highlighted the need for the development of the telecommunications component ecosystem in India, stating that it is insufficient to bring sub-systems here and assemble them for cost-effective components. Speaking at the 'India Telecom 2024' international trade expo, Mittal emphasized the necessity of developing a telecommunications component ecosystem in India, asserting that "we need to develop an environment related to telecommunications components in India." He emphasized that the startup environment would become a catalyst for future employment, technology, and manufacturing.
