Prime Minister Narendra Modi Leads Diwali Celebration At BJP Headquarters, Declares Chhath As A National Festival & Deepfake Concerns Expressed

In acknowledging the formidable challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Modi expressed the collective relief of the nation in being able to resume festive celebrations. He attributed this success to the "Vocal for Local" initiative, highlighting its significant support from the public and resulting in a remarkable business turnover of over Rs 4.5 lakh crore within a week. PM Modi underscored the economic impact of this initiative, noting its positive effects on small businesses and individual earnings.

Beyond the celebration of achievements, PM Modi addressed the emerging threat of artificial intelligence (AI) and deepfakes. He called on the media to play a pivotal role in educating the public about these technologies. The Prime Minister referenced a recent deepfake video falsely depicting him engaging in the traditional dance form of Garba, emphasizing the imperative of raising awareness regarding the potential misuse of AI.

Expressing concern about the potential crises stemming from AI, especially in the form of deepfakes, PM Modi underscored the critical need for public awareness. Additionally, he brought attention to another instance involving actress Rashmika Mandanna, whose deepfake video had gone viral on social media.

Despite the challenges posed by AI, Prime Minister Modi radiated confidence in India's relentless progress and reiterated his commitment to steering the country toward developed nation status. He emphasized that the aspiration for a developed India was not mere rhetoric but firmly grounded in the evolving reality of the nation's advancements.
