Delhi BJP Secretary, Ms. Bansuri Swaraj, highlighted the recent developments surrounding the GNCTD Amendment Act passed by Parliament on August 7, 2023, and subsequently approved by the Hon'ble President on August 12, 2023. In response, Ministers of the AAP government have been vocal in the media, asserting that the Act contradicts the Constitution. Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj even confidently predicted that the Supreme Court would strike down the Act.
The narrative took a turn when Minister Ms. Atishi issued a statement today, creating a contradiction within her stance. While acknowledging the Act's passage through Parliament and expressing respect for it, she also indicated the AAP's legal challenge in court over the same Act.
Ms. Bansuri Swaraj observed that Minister Atishi's statement signaled a potential shift in the AAP's perspective, possibly due to sound legal advice on the amendment's constitutionality and legality.
