During a high-level meeting on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a comprehensive review of the progress and future plans of the schemes implemented in the Basic Education Department. The state government, guided by the esteemed Prime Minister, has been actively working towards transforming the education sector over the past six years, leading to positive outcomes.

Significant strides have been made during this period, with over 1.64 lakh teachers being recruited in both Basic Education Council and Secondary Education Council schools. Additionally, an impressive sum of more than Rs 11,000 crore has been invested in strengthening the infrastructure of council schools.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic, the number of students in Basic Education Council schools has seen a notable increase, with enrollment growing from about 1.34 crore to over 1.91 crore. However, the focus must now shift to controlling the dropout rate through technology-enabled measures and engaging parents actively.

To promote digital learning, the government aims to provide tablets to 2.36 lakh teachers in primary and upper primary schools. This initiative is set to be completed by September of the following year, and teachers will be trained to utilize the tablets effectively. These tablets will come pre-loaded with information about government programs and initiatives, and the procurement process will prioritize transparency.

The government is committed to enhancing the overall quality of education in council schools, emphasizing learning environments, technical efficiency, digital learning, and vocational education. The concept of 'At Grade learning' will be implemented in classrooms, and Operation Kayakalp's second phase will be launched to achieve these objectives.

To ensure a conducive learning environment, schools will have proper cleanliness arrangements and adequate toilet facilities. The government aims to maintain an optimal teacher-student ratio and increase the number of classes in schools.

The government plans to initiate the Abhyudaya Composite Schools as a pilot project, with one such school in each of the 75 districts to be developed.

Furthermore, schools with dilapidated buildings will not be operational, and immediate action will be taken to demolish such structures and relocate students to nearby schools. The renovation work of secondary schools under Project Alankar will be expedited, and both government and funded non-government schools will receive support for their renovation efforts.

Through these strategic initiatives and future action plans, the state government aims to elevate the standard of education and ensure the holistic development of students in Uttar Pradesh.
