Positive Points

The practical horror and disturbing visual effects represent one of the trailer's greatest strengths. The woman's possession and her headrest penetrating her face set a strong visual tone for the film and provide an intense and compact environment that reflects the roots of the franchise. Souheila Yacoub is emotionally present, which adds to the impact of the horrors shown in the film. A family environment creates a psychological element by successfully intertwining loss and the otherworldly.

Negative Points

The trailer shows a lot of blood and disturbing images, but does not introduce a compelling or original story. The premise of "the Necronomicon creates Evil" is something that should be common for anyone that has seen two or more films within the Evil Dead franchise, so that means, for existing fans of the films, it will probably be hard to not see this from a very predictable viewpoint. Also, due to the graphic nature of the images used in the trailer, there may not be as much character development or any emotional attachments to the characters later in the movie.

Overall: Evil Dead Burn seems like a very strong addition to the franchise and should be very appealing to fans of serious, intense horror film; however, although it does not appear to change or reinvent the genre, it does appear to stand firmly on the elements that make Evil Dead what it is: raw terror, extreme visual elements, and extremely chaotic story-telling.
