POSITIVE POINTS

An exciting aspect in the trailer includes the amazing cast. Sunny Deol has an understated and powerful performance as someone who must rely more on emotion than physicality to convey his character’s true value. Akshaye Khanna captures the essence of being an unpredictable accused. Tillotama Shome provides the intensity of the courtroom. Dia Mirza delivers an emotional aspect to the overall narrative. The dialogue is strong, making the courtroom scenes feel very connecting, while the background music provides enough tension to keep the audience focused on the action. The trailer has suspense because it leaves out a number of twists but still gives the audience the right amount of information to be curious about the upcoming film.

NEGATIVE POINTS

The one drawback of the enjoyable trailer was the use of a cliché courtroom-drama template; there were little to no surprises and as a result the entire storyline becomes somewhat predictable. The expectation of more action from Sunny Deol may disappoint some fans since that was not the focus of the trailer.

Conclusion: Ultimately Ikka provides the audience with a great first impression because of the cast’s performances, the emotional story they created, and the courtroom drama. If Ikka maintains the same level of suspense and character-driven story, it will be a great legal thriller when it streams on Netflix July 10th.
