Delhi BJP Workers, Led By Virendra Sachdeva, Arrested Protesting Water Shortage In Delhi

The protestors gathered near Jhandewalan Temple and marched alongside State President Shri Virendra Sachdeva, breaking through police barricades to reach the main gate of the Delhi Jal Board Headquarters. As a result, hundreds of workers, including Shri Virendra Sachdeva and MP Shri Ramesh Bidhuri, were arrested and taken to the Paharganj Police Station. However, they were later released with a warning.

Several state office bearers and district presidents, along with various MLAs and corporators, were also present during the demonstration. Shri Virendra Sachdeva highlighted the dire financial state of the Delhi Jal Board, emphasizing that it is currently bankrupt and unable to even repay the interest on its loans. He criticized Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for neglecting the water crisis and engaging in political tactics to suppress corruption allegations.

Shri Sachdeva accused Kejriwal, who serves as the chairman of the Jal Board, of hiring a company called Face Antification for water bill collection. Instead of transferring the collected funds to the Jal Board, the company allegedly deposited them in a private bank, leading to corruption. He challenged Kejriwal to waive the water bills of seven lakh people in Delhi and put an end to the commission-based system. Shri Sachdeva also highlighted the non-payment of salaries to 500 Jal Board tanker helpers for the past eight months.

Other leaders echoed the concerns over the poor quality of drinking water in Delhi and accused Kejriwal's government of failing to address the water crisis adequately. They criticized the lack of water treatment plants and alleged Kejriwal's involvement in promoting the tanker mafia. The leaders demanded Kejriwal's resignation based on moral grounds and predicted that he would face legal consequences for his actions.

The demonstration indicated the growing discontent among the workers and opposition towards the Kejriwal government's handling of the water shortage issue in Delhi. It was suggested that similar protests would continue throughout the city until the water crisis was effectively resolved.
