Toyota Fortuner & Legender Neo Drive 48V Models Launched With Enhanced Performance And Fuel Efficiency
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched new Neo Drive models of its best-selling SUVs — the Fortuner and Legender. The new cars come with a pioneering 48-Volt hybrid powertrain, touted to offer enhanced fuel efficiency, smoother driving, and overall a more refined driving experience. With India witnessing rising demand for fuel-sipper but high-performance SUVs, Toyota's decision to launch mild-hybrid technology on its best-selling models is strategic and timely.
Propelling this facelift is the same 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel that has powered earlier versions. It's now supported, however, by a 48-Volt mild-hybrid system with belt-integrated starter generator and lithium-ion battery. This setup aims to deliver higher low-end torque, lower engine noise at idle, and increased fuel economy without sacrificing performance.
