AAI Adds Two B-360 Aircraft To Its Flight Inspection Fleet For Enhanced Navigational Aid Calibration

The induction ceremony of these aircraft was officiated by prominent figures, including Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel; General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh, Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation; Shri Vumlunmang Vualnam, Secretary of Civil Aviation; and Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman of AAI, at Safdarjung Airport in New Delhi.

AAI's Flight Inspection Unit plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of air navigation services throughout Indian airspace. With the rapid expansion of the airport network in India, the installation of navigational aids at airports has become essential to facilitate safe flight movements.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized the importance of flight calibration services, highlighting that they ensure the efficient and safe operation of aircraft by validating various Air Navigation Services Procedures. These new B-360 aircraft will be instrumental in calibrating a wide range of systems, including Category I, II, and III Instrument Landing Systems, DVORs, DME, NDB, Radar, GBAS, PAPI, TACAN, as well as validating procedures like RNP, LPV, and Instrument Approach Letdown procedures.

Meeting the rigorous standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is paramount in aviation safety, and AAI is dedicated to ensuring that Indian aviation infrastructure operates to the highest parameters. Currently, AAI's Flight Inspection Unit operates one Dornier-228 and one B-350 aircraft for flight calibration and inspection, covering a variety of navigational aids and landing systems at airports across the country.
