Inter Miami's unbeaten streak came to an end as they faced their first defeat of the Major League Soccer season, falling 3-2 at home to Montreal. The absence of Lionel Messi compounded their loss, with Montreal's Fernando Alvarez, Matias Coccaro, and Sunusi Ibrahim leading their team to victory, elevating them to second place in the Eastern Conference standings, just behind Miami on goal difference.

Coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino opted to rest key players, including Messi, Luis Suarez, and Sergio Busquets. However, Montreal's dominance from the start raised questions about this decision, as Alvarez scored from a corner in the 13th minute.

Despite Miami's efforts to regain control, including Jordi Alba's disallowed goal and Robert Taylor's close attempts, Montreal maintained their lead. Taylor's elegant finish hit the crossbar, but Miami fought back, with Leonardo Campana leveling the score in the 71st minute.

However, Montreal quickly reclaimed their advantage with two goals in succession. Coccaro capitalized on a cross from Mathias Choiniere, and Ibrahim extended their lead with a deflected shot.

Although Alba's stunning goal in the 80th minute gave Miami hope, Montreal held on to secure the win, leaving Miami to reflect on their first defeat of the campaign.

In other MLS matches, Cincinnati and D.C. United ended in a goalless draw, while Los Angeles Galaxy staged an impressive comeback to draw 2-2 against Nashville, showcasing the unpredictable nature of MLS encounters.
