Kanpur Files Movie On 1984 Sikh Massacre Announced, Releasing On October 31

Sardar Inder Preet Singh expressed his deep regret that despite the passage of many years since the tragic incident, no action has been taken against the perpetrators, and the victims have not received justice. The anticipated release date for 'Kanpur Files - 1984 Sikh Massacre' is October 31, 2023. Singh believes that the film will provide a strong foundation for those advocating for democratic rights, civil liberties, and human rights to bring the case to the United Nations and seek justice for the victims of the 1984 Sikh Genocide.

Singh mentioned that an SIT (Special Investigation Team) was formed on February 5, 2019, after 35 years of the incident. Sardar Kuldip Singh Bhogal, the President of the All India Riot Victims Relief Committee, 1984, and Advocate Prasoon Kumar, a Supreme Court lawyer, were instrumental in forming the SIT to identify and prosecute those involved in the killings. However, justice is still awaited by those who lost everything in the massacre.

The press conference was attended by Sardar Kuldip Singh Bhogal and Advocate Prasoon Kumar, who spoke about the 1984 Sikh massacre in Kanpur. Previously, Global Middas Capital (GMC) released a three-hour documentary titled '1984 - Genocide of Sikhs, Crime Against Humanity' in association with the Global Middas Foundation (GMF) on October 30, 2022. The documentary delved into the events that unfolded between October 31, 1984, and November 7, 1984, in Delhi, Kanpur, and Bokaro. It featured interviews with victims, their family members, lawyers, and social activists, aiming to provide insights into the aftermath of the 1984 genocide and the current status of witnesses and victims after 38 years.
