Delhi's IGI Airport Plans A Pioneering Multi-Modal Transport Hub For Seamless Integration Of Diverse Transportation Modes
IGIA's long-term vision extends to enhancing the overall journey experience for travelers, encompassing their commute before reaching the airport.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi, under the management of GMR Airport Infrastructure Limited, is poised to revolutionize travel with the creation of a state-of-the-art multi-modal transport hub near Aerocity. This visionary project aims to seamlessly integrate bus, metro, and air services, representing a significant departure from the conventional focus solely on airport facilities. Instead, IGIA's long-term vision extends to enhancing the overall journey experience for travelers, encompassing their commute before reaching the airport.
Officials have revealed that the multi-modal hub will be strategically connected to essential transportation nodes, including an Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT), the proposed Passenger Transport Centre (PTC), the upcoming phase-four line of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and the envisaged Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) station. Additionally, the hub will feature a station for the Automated Passenger Mover (APM) near the GMR Aerocity.
