Bhai Dooj 2023: Apply Tilak At The Right Time Sisters, Avoid These Crucial Mistakes For Blessings
Bhai Dooj 2023

Bhai Dooj, a festival that beautifully underscores the significance of the bond between brothers and sisters, marks the culmination of the Diwali celebrations. On this auspicious occasion, typically following the festival of lights, sisters apply a tilak to their brothers' foreheads, symbolizing prayers for their long and prosperous lives. In return, brothers express their love and appreciation by presenting thoughtful gifts to their sisters.

Scheduled on the second day of Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month, Bhai Dooj holds a special place in the hearts of siblings across the country. The festival not only celebrates the unique connection between brothers and sisters but also carries a poignant legend from ancient times.

This year, Bhai Dooj 2023 falls on Wednesday, November 15, based on the Udaya Tithi calculations. The Shukla Dwitiya Tithi of Kartik month commences on November 14, 2023, at 2:36 p.m. and concludes on November 15 at 1:47 p.m. This period is considered highly auspicious for performing the rituals associated with Bhai Dooj.

The festival's roots delve into a captivating mythological tale featuring Yamaraj, the deity of death, and his sister Yami. Legend has it that during a visit by Yamaraj to his sister Yami, she warmly welcomed him by adorning his forehead with a tilak and preparing delectable dishes for him. Touched by her boundless love and compassion, Yamaraj sought a boon from Yami. In response, Yami wished for her brother's annual return and instructed all sisters who observed the rituals and applied a tilak not to fear the god of death.

As families come together to celebrate this cherished festival, the exchange of tilak and gifts becomes a heartfelt expression of the enduring affection between siblings. Bhai Dooj, with its rich traditions and timeless tales, continues to reinforce the profound and everlasting nature of the bond shared between brothers and sisters.
