Novak Djokovic ranked number one in the world, battled against the Italian Lorenzo Musetti in a five-set match and came out on top after nearly five hours, setting the record for the latest finish in French Open history in the process. The reigning and defending champion showcased to the whole world yet again why he is one of the greatest players in the rich history of tennis. This win sealed the round of 16 for Novak Djokovic as well. 

Djokovic secured a thrilling comeback victory over 22-year-old Italian Musetti, winning 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 2-6, 6-3, and 6-0. The match, which lasted four hours and 29 minutes, didn't end until after 3 a.m. on Sunday, setting a new record for the latest finish in French Open history, surpassing the previous record of 1:26 a.m. This victory advances Djokovic to the last 16 of the tournament.

Talking about the victory, Novak Djokovic stated, "He played a fantastic match and came very close to victory. I was in great difficulty, but thanks to your support in the fourth set, I became a different player. It was perhaps the best match I have played here." Novak Djokovic was struggling early on, but with hard work and determination, he was able to go toe to toe with Lorenzo Musetti.

In the second set, Djokovic gained control with a spectacular drop shot, securing a 3-1 lead. However, Musetti fought back, breaking Djokovic’s serve and leveling the set at 4-4. The Italians saved a set point in a high-quality tiebreak to even the match. Musetti fought back in the third set to seal an easy win over Novak Djokovic. Despite being on the back foot, Novak Djokovic played remarkably well in the final set and ensured his victory. 

Novak Djokovic will now face Argentine 23rd seed Francisco Cerundolo, who has reached the fourth round for the second consecutive year. The victory was special for Djokovic as well because it led him to level with Roger Federer for the most Grand Slam victories of all time at 369.
