The WR-V name is globally reserved for the City-based SUV/Crossover, and it had made its mark in the Indian market.
The latest addition to Honda's lineup in the Indian market, the Elevate, is making waves and contributing significantly to the brand's sales figures. Positioned as a mid-size SUV, the Elevate is built on the platform of the popular Honda City, competing with other contenders in its segment such as the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, and more. Interestingly, this isn't Honda's first foray into the crossover segment in India, as the WR-V, based on the City’s platform, preceded the Elevate. The WR-V name is globally reserved for the City-based SUV/Crossover, and it had made its mark in the Indian market.
Adding a fascinating twist to the story, Honda has taken a unique approach with the Elevate in the Japanese market. While retaining the same platform as the Indian model, the Elevate is introduced in Japan as the WR-V, showcasing the versatility of Honda's global branding strategy. Remarkably, there are no alterations to either the exterior or interior of the vehicle for its Japanese incarnation. The SUV continues to be powered by the same 1.5L NA petrol engine that is featured in its Indian counterpart, producing 121 PS of peak power and 145 Nm of maximum torque. In India, buyers have the option of a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT, with the manual trims claiming a mileage of 15.31 kmpl and the automatic trims delivering a claimed mileage of 16.92 kmpl.
