A Vision for a New Era at the Red Fort

Addressing the nation on its 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a sweeping set of goals aimed at defining India’s technological and social landscape for the coming decades. Speaking from the historic ramparts of the Red Fort, the Prime Minister highlighted a clear focus on future-ready skills, energy security, and grassroots empowerment.

Equipping the Next Generation

A major highlight of the address was the launch of an aggressive AI skilling initiative. With the goal of training one crore youth in Artificial Intelligence within a single year, the government intends to place India at the forefront of the global digital revolution. This is paired with a new digital network designed to provide free online coaching for competitive exams, removing the financial barriers that often hinder students from middle-class and low-income families.

Transforming Sports and Security

The Prime Minister also announced a nationwide hunt for sporting talent targeting children between the ages of 5 and 15. The initiative aims to scout potential athletes from every corner of the country, providing them with professional training in Olympic disciplines where India has historically lacked representation. On the security front, a modernized Civil Defence network is set to be established. Recognizing that modern threats often target critical infrastructure like data centers and power grids, this voluntary force will be trained to handle contemporary challenges that go beyond traditional border security.

Powering Towards 2047

Energy security took center stage as the government outlined a roadmap to achieve 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047. Five new nuclear reactors are slated to begin operations within the current decade, signaling a major push for clean, reliable energy to fuel the nation’s growing semiconductor and data center industries. Speaking on self-reliance, the Prime Minister confirmed that with three semiconductor plants already operational, an additional five to eight facilities are planned to solidify India’s position in the global chip manufacturing market.

Empowering Rural Economies

The success of the 'Lakhpati Didi' scheme was a focal point of the address, with the Prime Minister announcing an ambitious new target of six crore beneficiaries. By scaling this program, the government seeks to drive a profound economic transformation in rural India, leveraging the entrepreneurial spirit of women to accelerate national development.
