The film "Satluj" was made by an actor and director "Honey Trehan", and tells the true story of a journalist/human rights activist named Hansraj Singh Khalra. The movie focuses heavily on the unshakeable resolve of Khalra to expose the truth behind the alleged extrajudicial killings and alleged secret cremation of thousands of people by the government. As he gathers evidence to corroborate his claims using government documents; he finds himself pitted against the power of the system, which will stop at nothing to crush those who speak out against it. Due to historical records, the film has a strong narrative and historical overview that resonates with all audiences (dryness) emotionally on a family/community level.

Satluj Performances

Diljit Dosanjh is at the top of his game here! This will be one of his best performances so far! The character's emotional journey is depicted much more through facial expressions and body language than traditional strong dramatic dialogue; Diljit portrays an enormous amount of courage, determination and powerful presence as Jaswant Singh Khalra.

Geetika Vidya Ohlyan is absolutely amazing as Jaswant's wife and her performance captures what a huge emotional cost this character incurs in order to support her husband's fight for justice. Suvinder Vicky captures the intensity and menacing qualities of his role as a senior police officer as well as providing an excellent performance. Both Kanwaljeet Singh and Arjun Rampal provide excellent support to the film.

Satluj Positive Points

The strength of this movie is due to its authentic storytelling.The commercial components are minimized, focusing on the story of the investigation as told by Honey Trehan with as much realism and emotional depth as possible. K.U. Mohanan’s cinematography added to the suspense of the criminal investigation while the background music also created tension without being too obvious; in fact, the movie has a running time of just over one hundred sixty minutes, yet the screenplay seamlessly transitions from an investigative drama into a suspenseful political thriller.

Satluj Negative Points

There were some shortcomings in this movie. For example, during the first act of the movie the pace may be too slow and not thrilling enough for some audience members. The movie could benefit from cutting large sections of content, improving the movie’s flow overall. This movie contains serious historical content so it may not be entertaining enough for some who want a good time.

Verdict: This movie demonstrates how important values such as truth and accountability are. Honey Trehan’s sensitive approach to this emotionally charged subject is exceptional. In history, Diljit Dosanjh's performance will stand out as the best-ever. The performance, direction, and storytelling create a film everyone who has an affinity for movies, especially an uplifting one that is based on concrete historical fact, will appreciate and enjoy.
