Hero MotoCorp is preparing to bolster its premium scooter range by adding the upcoming Hero Xoom 125 Adventure. Recently, the manufacturer filed a design patent for a ruggedised version of the Xoom 125, indicating that an eventual production version could be introduced in India soon. The new scooter is likely to be targeted to those riding enthusiasts wanting a more ruggedly styled or sporty scooter after seeing the Adventure Concept variant at EICMA.
Hero first showed the Xoom 125 and Xoom 160 at the 2023 EICMA Motor Show in Milan, and then a year later revealed the Adventure Concept versions of both models. The newly leaked patent images closely mirror the concept model and strongly suggest that Hero plans to move ahead with production of the adventure-styled scooter.
The Adventure version of the Xoom 125 will include many upgrades from the standard version, both in terms of appearance and usability. One of the biggest changes will be the addition of an aggressive front crash guard designed to protect the scooter's apron area. In addition to being safer, the conventional front mudd guard will be replaced by an adventure-style motorcycle beak design, giving the scooter a more aggressive look. The patent images of the Adventure version also depict the front crash guard in front of the beak, providing increased styling and protection.
Key Specifications
With a 124 cc engine, the Hero Xoom125 Adventure has an air cooled engine, and it is a single cylinder design. The Hero Xoom125 Adventure will offer a maximum power output of approximately 10 PS with a maximum torque of about 10.4 Nm. The powerplant is virtually identical to the standard Hero Xoom125; however, Hero has tuned the engine for smooth performance around town, while still being capable of giving good performance over longer distances.
The wheels on the new Hero Xoom125 Adventure will measure 14 inches in diameter and will be of alloy construction. The knobby tires that will be fit to the Hero Xoom125 Adventure have been developed to allow for much better traction while travelling over rough surfaces as well as for light off-roading.
The features that the Hero Xoom125 Adventure will come with will most likely be the same as those found on the existing Hero Xoom125, namely; all-LED lighting, with a very bright and highly efficient LED headlight and very stylish swipe-style LED indicator lights. A fully digital dashboard combined with Bluetooth capability, as well as turn-by-turn navigation, will certainly provide riders with more convenience when travelling to and from work.
One of the key aesthetic highlights of the Hero Xoom125 Adventure is its very rugged and stylish design; its front beak and front crash bar (which are purpose-built) add to the overall toughness, while the strong and handsome body panels create a premium and rugged adventure touring scooter feel.
The launch of the Hero Xoom125 Adventure will appeal to riders who wish to use a vehicle for short exploration or as a basic form of everyday transport. This bike has been designed as an adventure-focused/urban focused scooter that is fun but utilitarian and will have a more aggressive look than the standard Hero Xoom115. While mechanical specifications remain unchanged (although some will be minor) it is likely that the new design and colours will help attract a younger buyer and provide an alternative to conventional scooter designs within the125cc segment. More details about the release of this product are expected to be published in the near future.
