Recently released concept art from Avengers Doomsday has given Marvel fans an inside look into the character design of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. The person responsible for reaching out to the fans is Andy Park, who has previously worked for Marvel as the Director of Visual Development, and has released the artwork ahead of the release of the movie.
According to reports, this art was shared by Park on his account on X on July 11, where he called it one of the final projects of his experience with Marvel Studios. Park has written, "Avengers: Doomsday signifies the end of my career as Director of Visual Development in Marvel Studios. This illustration reflects the journey of mine with Marvel Studios and presents the look of the characters for the first time."
This new artwork is a first time glimpse of what Doctor Doom’s iconic mask will look like in the film, which will be donned by Robert Downey Jr, who is returning to Marvel Cinematic Universe after a long hiatus. The art also shows some familiar faces from earlier X-Men movies like Nightcrawler, Beast and Mystique. The introduction of these characters in this movie is particularly exciting for Marvel fans because they have not seen them in any film promotion materials until this point.
What’s also interesting about this artwork is that it shows Loki, who is being played by Tom Hiddleston, right in the center of the picture. Even though Marvel has not mentioned anything about Loki’s role within the movie plot, his positioning raises a lot of questions about his influence on the plot of the movie.
This artwork has appeared after Park had announced his departure from Marvel after Disney went through its reorganization process. He expressed his thoughts about the 16 years he worked with Marvel and the fact that he was able to take part in more than 40 movies during this period while leading visual development of 15 projects.
Avengers: Doomsday seems to become one of Marvel Studios’ biggest movies ever. The movie has a large cast, among which there are Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Sebastian Stan, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Letitia Wright, David Harbour, Joseph Quinn, Simu Liu, Channing Tatum, etc.
