The announcement was made during TMA’s Annual General Meeting and Annual Business Session held in New Delhi.

Russia has been a top choice for Indian students considering MBBS from abroad.

New Delhi [India], August 14: For thousands of Indian students aspiring to become doctors, securing an affordable and quality MBBS seat in India remains highly competitive. As students and parents explore their options after NEET 2026, MBBS in Russia continues to attract attention as an established pathway for students considering medical education abroad.

Russia has a long-standing medical education system, a large network of universities and teaching hospitals, and a significant international student population. The growing interest among Indian students is also reflected in official student mobility data. According to data from the Ministry of External Affairs, the number of Indian students in Russia increased from 19,784 in 2022 to 23,503 in 2023 and further to 31,444 in 2024.

For students considering MBBS admission in Russia 2026, factors such as the cost of education, university infrastructure, clinical training, international exposure and the availability of English-medium medical programmes are among the considerations influencing their decision.

Affordable Medical Education

The cost of medical education is an important consideration for Indian families.

Compared with many private medical colleges in India, MBBS in Russia for Indian students can offer a comparatively affordable route. However, costs vary between universities, including tuition, hostel, food, insurance, travel and other expenses.

Universities such as Orenburg State Medical University, Perm State Medical University and Mari State University attract Indian students seeking government-university options. Families should compare the complete six-year cost, not just tuition fees, including accommodation, food, insurance, visa, travel and other university charges.

MBBS After NEET 2026: Why Students Are Exploring Options Abroad

NEET continues to be the gateway to undergraduate medical education in India, highlighting the intense competition for medical seats.

With more than 22 lakh candidates appearing for NEET UG 2026, students unable to secure a suitable MBBS seat in India within their preferred budget increasingly explore MBBS abroad.

Russia is one of the destinations considered by Indian students because of its established medical universities and comparatively accessible cost structure.

However, the decision should not be based simply on seat availability. Students should examine the university, curriculum, clinical training, regulatory requirements, and long-term licensing pathway before choosing to study medicine abroad.

Russian Medical Universities and NMC Guidelines

For an Indian student planning to study medicine abroad, one of the most important considerations is compliance with applicable NMC Guidelines.

The National Medical Commission’s Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations, 2021, specify requirements relating to the duration, medium of instruction, curriculum, clinical training and other aspects of foreign medical education.

The NMC framework requires students to verify whether the specific foreign medical programme they intend to join meets the requirements applicable to their batch.

Universities such as Orenburg State Medical University, Perm State Medical University and Mari State University are considered by Indian students, but programme and regulatory requirements should be independently verified before admission.

A university’s presence in WDOMS alone does not guarantee eligibility to practise medicine in India. WDOMS information and NMC requirements should be checked separately.

Clinical Exposure and International Campus Life

Medical education is ultimately about preparing students for real-world practice, making clinical exposure and international experience important factors when selecting a university. Universities such as Perm State Medical University and Orenburg State Medical University provide opportunities to progress from academic learning towards clinical education within their regional healthcare ecosystems.

At the same time, Russia’s universities attract students from different countries, creating multicultural campuses. For Indian students, studying alongside international classmates can provide exposure to different cultures, languages and healthcare perspectives while developing independence and adaptability. Students should evaluate clinical training, affiliated hospitals and the overall learning environment at the university level.

Medical Education Across Different Russian Regions

One distinctive feature of studying MBBS in Russia is the opportunity to experience diverse geographical and cultural environments.

From Orenburg and Perm to Yoshkar-Ola, Elista and Pskov, Russian medical universities offer exposure to different regional healthcare systems and cultures. Kalmyk State University in Elista and Pskov State University in Pskov allows international students to experience unique regional histories, lifestyles and cultures.

This geographical diversity is an important aspect of studying MBBS in Russia, with the right choice depending on preferences regarding climate, city size, living environment and academic facilities.

A Growing Indian Student Community

The growing Indian student population has made Russia a more familiar destination for Indian families. With more than 31,000 Indian students recorded in Russia in 2024, established Indian communities across universities help new students adjust to life abroad while staying connected through festivals and cultural activities.

Universities such as Orenburg State Medical University, Perm State Medical University and Mari State University are familiar choices among Indian students exploring medical education in Russia.

For parents, an established Indian student community can provide greater familiarity and comfort when considering MBBS admission in Russia.

FMGE, NExT and Long-Term Planning

Students considering MBBS in Russia should understand the licensing pathway from the beginning.

For Indian graduates, eligibility to practise medicine in India is governed by applicable NMC regulations, which can evolve. Students should therefore follow the latest NMC regulations and notifications.

Universities such as Orenburg State Medical University and Perm State Medical University may provide academic support, but this does not guarantee success in licensing examinations. Students should understand the requirements applicable to their graduating batch.

Why Russia Remains an Important Option for Indian Medical Aspirants

The growing interest in Russia reflects a broader trend in medical education abroad. For many Indian aspirants, comparatively affordable education, established universities, international exposure and clinical training make Russia an option worth considering.

However, studying medicine abroad requires careful planning. Factors such as the right university, regulatory compliance, clinical exposure, total cost and long-term licensing pathway are more important than simply choosing the lowest-cost programme.

The goal should not simply be to find a medical seat abroad, but to choose a university where the academic environment, clinical training and regulatory requirements support the long-term goal of becoming a practising doctor.

Helping Indian Students Navigate Medical Education Abroad

As more Indian students explore MBBS abroad, professional guidance can help with university selection, eligibility, documentation, admission, fees, travel and pre-departure preparation.

Rus Education, an organisation specialising in overseas medical education, has been helping Indian students explore opportunities at Russian universities for more than two decades.

Through its association with Russian universities including Orenburg State Medical University, Perm State Medical University, Mari State University, Kalmyk State University and Pskov State University, Rus Education works with students seeking information about medical education opportunities in different parts of Russia.

The objective is to help students and parents understand their options and make informed decisions rather than selecting a university solely based on advertisements or fee comparisons.

For students planning MBBS admission in Russia 2026, or exploring MBBS abroad after NEET 2026, Rus Education provides admission guidance and assistance throughout the application process.

Students and parents can visit www.ruseducation.in or contact the Rus Education student helpline at 1800-833-3338 for further information.

Students and parents are advised to independently verify the latest NMC regulations, university-specific eligibility requirements, and applicable licensing requirements for their admission year before making an admission decision.

She recently developed swelling in both legs and blood in her urine, prompting further medical evaluation. Investigations revealed that the cancer had returned in the abdomen and right pelvis. More significantly, advanced imaging showed a massive tumour thrombus extending into the Inferior Vena Cava (IVC)—the major blood vessel that carries blood from the lower part of the body back to the heart.

The unusual extent of the recurrence made the surgical procedure extremely challenging. At Peerless Hospital, Kolkata, the medical team determined that complete surgical resection offered the patient the best possible chance of achieving meaningful disease control.

A multidisciplinary team takes on an extraordinary challenge

Given the complexity of the case, a specialised multidisciplinary team comprising Gynae-Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Gastro-Oncology, Uro-Oncology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS), Anaesthesiology and Critical Care was constituted.

After detailed evaluation and medical optimisation, the patient underwent a complex surgery lasting nearly 10 hours.

A cystoscopy was first performed to confirm that there was no involvement of the urinary bladder. The team then opened the abdomen and proceeded with clearance of the pelvic tumour.

During the extensive tumour clearance, the right ureter sustained an injury. The Uro-Oncology team immediately addressed the complication and successfully re-implanted the ureter.

The Surgical and Gastro-Oncology teams then carefully mobilised the liver to expose the Inferior Vena Cava. The CTVS team created an artificial vascular bypass to temporarily divert blood flow, allowing the IVC to be safely clamped.

The tumour thrombus was meticulously removed, following which the IVC was repaired and re-sutured.

The surgery also involved advanced blood-conservation techniques. A Cell Saver system was used to collect, process and return the patient’s own blood lost during surgery. Remarkably, the entire procedure was completed without requiring a single unit of external donor blood.

Smooth recovery after a high-risk surgery

Despite the complexity and duration of the operation, the patient’s recovery was remarkably smooth. She was extubated on the first postoperative day and gradually resumed oral intake.

The minor post-operative complications were efficiently managed by the team. After a two-week hospital stay, the patient was discharged in a stable condition.

“This was an extraordinarily challenging operation because the recurrent tumour involved the pelvis and abdomen and had extended into the Inferior Vena Cava. Such a procedure requires meticulous planning and close coordination between multiple specialties. The ability to safely remove the tumour thrombus while preserving the patient’s vital blood circulation was a major surgical challenge. The successful outcome demonstrates the importance of a truly multidisciplinary approach in managing complex recurrent cancers,” said Dr. Amit Mandal Consultant Gynae Onco Surgeon, Peerless Hospital, Kolkata.

The case, described by the treating team as a first-of-its-kind surgical achievement in Eastern India, highlights the possibilities of advanced cancer surgery when expertise from multiple disciplines comes together.

The successful combination of complex oncological surgery, vascular reconstruction, urological intervention, anaesthetic management and blood-conservation technology provided the patient with a potentially life-saving treatment option in a situation that would traditionally have been considered extremely high-risk.

For the 55-year-old woman from South Kolkata, what began as the frightening return of a cancer after 10 disease-free years has now become a story of advanced medical expertise, teamwork and renewed hope.

With over 2,000 babies benefitted since 2019, Surya Human Milk Bank combines advanced pasteurisation technology with sustained awareness efforts to strengthen neonatal nutrition

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 15: Surya Hospitals, a beacon of excellence in women and children’s healthcare, today highlighted a critical intervention in neonatal intensive care through its state-of-the-art Human Milk Bank. Marking India’s Independence Day with a focus on community service and following World Breastfeeding Week, the institution hosted a dedicated forum to honour donor mothers and underscore how human milk donation serves as a life-saving clinical lifeline for premature, low-birthweight, and medically vulnerable newborns.

Held following World Breastfeeding Week, the occasion brought attention to an important aspect of newborn care ensuring access to appropriate nutrition when a mother’s own milk is temporarily unavailable or insufficient. This also reinforced the importance of safe donor human milk as a clinically supported option for babies who require additional nutritional support during their early days of life.

Established in 2019, the Surya Human Milk Bank is among the largest human milk banks in the private healthcare sector and has, over the past seven years, supported more than 2,000 babies in need of donor human milk. Every year, approximately 100–120 low-birthweight babies at Surya Hospitals require breastmilk support as part of their clinical care.

The initiative addresses an important aspect of newborn nutrition by ensuring access to appropriately screened and processed donor human milk when a mother’s own milk is temporarily unavailable or insufficient. Human milk is particularly valuable for premature and low-birthweight babies as it is easier to digest and provides important nutritional and protective factors.

Dr. Bhupendra S. Avasthi, Founder, Chairman & Managing Director, Surya Hospitals, said, “The vision behind the Surya Human Milk Bank is to ensure that premature newborns who cannot receive sufficient mother’s milk have access to safe donor human milk. This Independence Day, we hope to reinforce that the spirit of freedom is also about giving every child a healthier start in life. Through rigorous screening, pasteurisation and controlled storage, we are committed to ensuring that quality-checked donor milk reaches eligible newborns. At the same time, we want to create greater awareness and address misconceptions around human milk donation so that more eligible mothers can make informed decisions and contribute to this meaningful cause.”

Artist and mother Jankee Mehta, who has personally contributed as a milk donor, joined the celebrations as Chief Guest and called for greater awareness among mothers about human milk donation. She said, “As a mother, knowing that your milk can help another baby grow stronger and healthier makes the act of giving truly meaningful. On Independence Day, as we celebrate the spirit of giving, I hope more eligible mothers become aware that surplus breastmilk can be donated safely and consider supporting babies who need it most.”

At the Human Milk Bank, donors undergo appropriate screening, while donated milk is tested, processed and pasteurised before being stored under controlled conditions. This multi-step process is designed to ensure that safe, quality-checked donor milk reaches babies who meet the clinical criteria for receiving it.

The hospital also provides counselling and medical guidance to address concerns around donation, including the misconception that donating milk could reduce the supply available for a mother’s own baby.

Dr. Hari Balasubramanian, Consultant, Neonatologist at Surya Hospitals said, “Healthy mothers with an adequate milk supply can generally consider donation following appropriate medical screening. The process involves counselling, screening, collection and safe processing. Professional guidance is important to help mothers make informed decisions while maintaining the required safety standards for donor milk.”

Surya Hospitals aims to further expand awareness around human milk donation, encourage more eligible mothers to become donors and strengthen access to donor milk, alongside continued breastfeeding education and support for new mothers.

The Independence Day recognition of donor mothers celebrates the spirit of giving, where one mother’s generosity can provide meaningful support to another baby during a critical stage of life.

New Delhi [India], August 15: Childhood memories often remain deeply connected to the places where people first experienced friendship, independence, discipline, and the challenges of growing up. Dr Soumitra Ghosh’s Echoes from Sainik School – A Memoir of Brotherhood and Growing Up takes readers into the world of Sainik School Purulia, drawing upon his eight years at the institution from 1972 to 1980.

At the heart of the memoir is the experience of growing up away from home. Having entered Sainik School Purulia as a ten-year-old boy, Dr Ghosh recalls the distinctive routines and experiences that shaped his formative years. Early-morning drills, parade grounds, hostel life, the Dining Hall, Saturday evenings, punishments, pranks, and school activities become part of a larger story about childhood and growing independence.

A significant theme of Echoes from Sainik School is brotherhood and camaraderie. The book explores friendships formed during childhood and how relationships created in school can remain meaningful decades later. Shared routines, challenges, homesickness, humor and mischief create bonds that extend beyond the school years, surviving distance, changing professions and the passage of time.

The memoir also examines the role of discipline in shaping young lives. Life at a Sainik School demanded responsibility, performance and adherence to routines, while simultaneously providing opportunities for friendship, exploration and personal growth. Through these experiences, the book reflects on how discipline, failure, punishment, responsibility and independence can become important lessons that are understood more fully with age.

Rather than focusing only on nostalgia, the book looks at how childhood experiences influence adult identity. The memories of teachers, seniors and friends are presented alongside the ordinary moments that may have seemed insignificant at the time but gained greater meaning when viewed from the distance of several decades.

Another important element of the memoir is its portrayal of boarding-school life. The transition from home to an institutional environment brings its own challenges, including separation from family, homesickness and the need to adapt to unfamiliar routines. At the same time, the experience creates a strong sense of community among students who share the same living spaces, responsibilities, and adventures.

Echoes from Sainik School also offers a glimpse into a particular period of school life in India. The memories of drills, hostel routines, teachers, seniors, punishments, and school traditions provide an authentic picture of an environment in which young boys were expected to develop discipline and resilience while navigating the ordinary joys and difficulties of adolescence.

The memoir’s emotional center lies in the idea that people may leave places behind without necessarily leaving them emotionally. For Dr Ghosh, the years spent at Sainik School Purulia remained present through memories of friendships, teachers, laughter, mischief, and lessons learned. The book becomes an attempt to preserve those experiences before the details gradually disappear with time.

At the same time, the memoir invites readers to reflect on their own childhoods. Readers who have experienced boarding schools or hostel life may recognize the emotions and situations described in the book, while others may be reminded of their own school friends, teachers, adventures and forgotten memories.

Ultimately, Echoes from Sainik School is a tribute to a formative period of life and to the people who made those years memorable. It combines nostalgia with reflections on identity, resilience, friendship and transformation, offering readers a journey into a world where childhood friendships could become lifelong bonds and where the lessons of growing up continued long after leaving the school gates.

KühlTherm designs and manufactures the complete thermal loop for AI data centres, from chip to chiller, entirely in India. This milestone marks another step in KühlTherm’s journey towards delivering reliable, full-stack thermal management solutions, and its vision of increasing its manufacturing capacity from the present 300MW to 2 GW by 2027.

Commenting on the product launch and laboratory, Shailesh Bishnoi, Founder & CEO, KühlTherm, said, “The new RDHx and CDU are a part of our goal to help our customers confidently adopt next-generation cooling technologies, while strengthening India’s position in the global thermal management ecosystem. India is entering a major data centre buildout cycle, and decisions being made today will define the efficiency and sustainability of thermal management infrastructure for years to come. As AI, high-performance computing, and data center infrastructure continue to evolve, the demand for efficient and reliable liquid cooling solutions will continue to grow.”

While data centres are the backbone of AI infrastructure, they also generate large amounts of heat. Land surface temperatures around AI data centres without adequate cooling rise by an average of 2 degrees Celsius (3.6F) after they open, according to a study by Cambridge-led researchers. Unchecked temperatures not only impact the environment, but also impact the data centre’s operations by causing thermal throttling and system failures.

KühlTherm’s solutions are designed to help data centre operators reduce thermal throttling, improve cooling efficiency and enable high-performance computing at scale. Its systems are being engineered for Indian data centre conditions, adapted to handle local climate, grid fluctuations and infrastructure requirements, enabling faster deployment, local serviceability and improved cost efficiency.

This announcement also comes after KühlTherm recently raised $1.1 million in a Seed funding round led by Arkam Ventures, to spearhead its plans to scale its liquid cooling solutions for AI data centres, hyperscale infrastructure and other high-density computing environments.

As India cements its position as the new global data centre hub, the next phase of data centre growth is being shaped by AI and GPU-led workloads that require significantly higher compute density. Data centre operators are increasingly understanding the need to adopt more modern cooling systems with higher performance, uptime and energy efficiency. In this scenario, India is positioned to drive innovation in thermal management solutions that help make AI infrastructure more efficient and sustainable.

Awsum’s cheesecake range—New York Style, Blueberry, Coffee & Zesty Lemon. Creamy indulgence, without the compromise. #ItsAwsumToBeCheesy

New Delhi [India], August 7: Awsum today announced the launch of its frozen dessert range, beginning with a line of cheesecakes and a lava cake with a molten core, delivered fresh to consumers’ doorsteps in minutes.

The launch addresses a conspicuous gap in the Indian market. For most consumers, a proper cheesecake has barely existed as a ready option at all. It has meant a trip to a café or a premium patisserie, and it has been almost entirely absent from the retail freezer. Even lava cakes, more familiar to Indian palates, have long come in only a handful of options. Awsum is bringing both home, on demand, as the opening drop of a broader frozen line-up rolling out through the year.

“For a country that loves dessert, a good cheesecake has been surprisingly hard to get hold of,” said Pranav Sharma, Founder and CEO of Awsum. “We’ve always believed indulgence shouldn’t come with compromises. The challenge wasn’t simply creating a great cheesecake. It was making one that could live in your freezer, arrive in minutes, and taste as if it came from a premium bakery. That’s what this launch represents, and it’s the foundation for everything we’ll build in frozen desserts going forward.”

Awsum’s frozen cheesecake range launches in four flavours, each dense and built to hold its shape from freezer to plate. New York Style is the classic, the one Indian travellers increasingly return home craving, made straight with no added flavourings and no substitutions. Zesty Lemon finishes bright and sharp with citrus. Coffee folds espresso through the cream. And Blueberry runs a fruit-and-cream swirl across the top. Each thaws to exactly the state its maker intended rather than softening on the journey.

The lava cake is built for the moment the spoon goes in. Warmed for a minute, it breaks open to a molten core that flows, a café dessert re-engineered to be summoned at home whenever the craving lands. The range launches led by Choco Lava, its centre running deep with chocolate, with further molten-core flavours set to follow.

The approach marks a departure from how premium dessert has traditionally scaled in India, through capital-intensive café and retail expansion. Awsum carries no such overhead: its storefront is the freezer aisle of neighbourhood delivery hubs, its distribution is the quick commerce network already serving millions of Indian households daily, and its shelf is the one already inside the customer’s home.

Awsum’s frozen cheesecakes and lava cake are available now on leading quick commerce platforms including Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart, with prices starting at ₹299 (MRP). Additional flavours and ranges will roll out on quick commerce over the coming months.

The milestone positions FramesNFlights as India’s first AI travel influencer duo to reach 100,000 Instagram followers organically, reinforcing a simple idea: audiences reward useful content, not whether it is created by humans or AI.

New Delhi [India], August 7: For years, marketers have debated whether audiences would trust AI-generated creators. FramesNFlights by Glido Labs may have provided one of India’s clearest answers.

The AI travel couple has become India’s first AI travel influencer duo to cross 100,000 Instagram followers, generating more than 30 million organic views and over 45,000 travel itinerary requests within 90 days.

For Glido Labs, an AI-First Content IP Studio that helps brands and enterprise clients build and scale Content IPs, the milestone is about more than follower growth. It reflects a broader shift in how audiences evaluate digital creators.

The Real Shift Isn’t AI. It’s Audience Ownership.

Most discussions around AI creators focus on whether audiences can distinguish between human and AI-generated personalities.

For enterprise marketers, that may be the wrong question.

The larger strategic challenge is building a consistent, high-frequency content engine without continuously increasing production costs or relying entirely on external creators.

Glido Labs works with brands and enterprise clients to build and scale proprietary Content IPs, AI-powered media properties designed around audience interests rather than individual campaigns and products.

Instead of creating isolated pieces of content, the objective is to build long-term distribution assets that continue to educate, engage, and grow over time.

FramesNFlights Offers an Early Example

One of Glido Labs’ most visible Content IPs is FramesNFlights, an AI-powered travel couple focused on destination discovery and travel inspiration.

Within 90 days, the account crossed 100,000 Instagram followers, generated more than 30 million organic views, and received over 45,000 travel itinerary requests from users planning trips.

While those numbers attracted attention, Glido Labs believes the more important takeaway lies elsewhere.

“The biggest insight wasn’t reaching 100,000 followers. It was realizing that people don’t really care whether the creator is AI or human. They care whether the content consistently helps them. If the content creates value, trust follows naturally,” says Rajat Kumar, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer at Glido Labs.

Enterprise Teams Need Scalable Content, Not Bigger Production Budgets

Marketing leaders today face a familiar challenge.

They are expected to publish more content across more platforms, in more formats, and increasingly in multiple regional languages, all while managing tighter timelines and growing pressure on efficiency.

Traditional production models often struggle to keep pace because every campaign requires planning, shoots, creators, editing, approvals, and distribution.

Glido Labs addresses this through AI-native production workflows supported by human editorial review, enabling brands to produce consistent, brand-safe content while maintaining strategic oversight.

The company positions AI as an operational advantage rather than a replacement for creative thinking.

India’s Multilingual Internet Requires a Different Content Strategy

India’s digital audience is expanding rapidly beyond English-speaking markets.

Consumers increasingly engage with creators who communicate in their preferred language and understand regional culture.

Recognising this shift, Glido Labs has expanded beyond English and Hinglish with vernacular-language Content IPs, including Iruvar Payanam for Tamil-speaking audiences, which has also crossed 10K followers, alongside dedicated initiatives for other regional markets.

The approach allows brands to think beyond translation and instead build content ecosystems designed specifically for diverse language communities.

Content IPs Could Become the Next Competitive Advantage

Many brands have already invested heavily in content marketing.

The next stage may be building media properties that audiences choose to follow independently of advertising campaigns.

This is the philosophy behind Glido Labs’ Content IP model.

Rather than relying exclusively on rented distribution through influencers or paid media, brands can develop owned media assets that strengthen audience relationships over time.

The company has built multiple AI-powered Content IPs across travel, business, finance, marketing, relationships, devotion, storytelling, and other knowledge-led categories, while continuing to expand into multilingual experiences.

The Conversation Has Moved Beyond AI Influencers

The debate is no longer whether an AI Influencer in India can attract attention.

The more relevant question for founders and marketing leaders is whether AI can help build sustainable media assets that reduce long-term dependence on rented distribution.

For categories driven by education, expertise, information, and consistent publishing, AI-powered Content IPs are beginning to present a new operating model.

Glido Labs believes the brands that invest early in owned audience ecosystems will be better positioned for the next phase of digital marketing.

As enterprises rethink how they create and distribute content, the future may belong less to brands that simply buy attention, and more to those that build it.

Domicil, the iconic German home furnishing brand from HTL International, proudly returned as the Lounge Partner for the Indian Streaming Academy Awards (ISAA) 2026, marking its second consecutive association with one of India’s leading celebrations of digital entertainment. Held at the Fairmont Hotel, Mumbai, on 18th July 2026, the third edition of the awards brought together some of the biggest names from the Indian entertainment industry to honour excellence and achievements in original OTT content.

As streaming continues to redefine entertainment, the home has become the preferred destination for immersive viewing experiences. It has given Indian audiences the freedom to watch what they want, when they want, and where they want. And furniture plays an important role in shaping how people relax, connect, and engage with the stories they love. Recognising this evolving lifestyle, Domicil’s partnership with the Indian Streaming Academy Awards reflects the brand’s belief that great stories deserve spaces that are equally inspiring.

The Domicil Lounge was an immersive experiential space where actors, filmmakers, creators, and guests experienced the brand’s signature blend of German design, timeless aesthetics, exceptional comfort, and superior craftsmanship while engaging with its premium lifestyle philosophy. It was wonderful to see winners celebrating their achievements in the Domicil Lounge—interacting with the furniture, capturing memorable photographs with their awards, and sharing the experience with fellow guests. Throughout the evening, the lounge became a natural destination, reflecting the role thoughtfully designed living spaces play in bringing people together.

Adding to the evening’s celebrations, Mr. Manoj Nair, Country Head (Brands), India, Middle East & Africa, HTL Group of Companies, presented the Best Supporting Actor (Female) – Hindi award, adding another chapter to Domicil’s association with one of India’s most celebrated entertainment platforms.

Commenting on the partnership, Manoj Nair, Country Head (Brands), India, Middle East and Africa, HTL Group of Companies, said, “Streaming has transformed entertainment by giving people the freedom to experience stories in the comfort of their own homes. At Domicil, we create an environment where families come together, conversations continue and everyday moments become more meaningful. Our continued association with the Indian Streaming Academy Awards reflects Domicil’s belief that exceptional design enriches everyday experiences and celebrates the spaces where life’s most memorable stories unfold.”

The partnership reflects Domicil’s continued commitment to engaging with consumers through premium lifestyle and entertainment platforms. As audiences increasingly experience stories from the comfort of their homes, Domicil continues to shape the environments where those stories are enjoyed. A sofa becomes the place where families gather for a weekend series, a recliner makes long viewing sessions more comfortable, and a thoughtfully designed bed turns a late-night film into a moment of complete relaxation.

Domicil believes a home is more than just a space. It is where life unfolds. Its association with the Indian Streaming Academy Awards further strengthens the brand’s presence in India’s premium lifestyle landscape while celebrating the homes where life’s most memorable stories come alive.

MahaRERA and the state government should restore RERA’s declaration-based registration model, with detailed scrutiny handled later through audits, inspections, complaints and penalties for false disclosures.

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], August 5: MahaRERA was constituted with a view to making Maharashtra’s real estate market transparent, accountable and reliable. It must remain strongly committed to that goal and to protecting the interests of homebuyers. But nearly a decade later, it is becoming increasingly evident that MahaRERA needs a serious operational reset – one that protects homebuyers without turning legitimate project development into an open-ended compliance exercise.

While substantial progress has been made towards the objectives of the Act, serious modifications are now needed to accelerate that progress and make the system work better for all stakeholders.

The first years of MahaRERA showed what was possible. The authority became functional in May 2017, with Gautam Chatterjee as its first chairman. Its original digital-first registration model helped Maharashtra take an early lead in RERA implementation.

The legal position is clear: a promoter cannot advertise or sell a real estate project without registration, and each phase of a phased development is treated as a separate real estate project for registration purposes.

The crucial lesson from that period was not that oversight was unnecessary. Rather, it was that regulation could be fast, transparent and largely based on promoter disclosures, with clear consequences for incorrect or misleading declarations. The promoter was responsible for compliance, while the regulator ensured public visibility and enforcement.

This balance appears to have gradually broken down.

Shri Manoj Saunik is the current Chairman of MahaRERA. He took charge in September 2024 after the tenure of Shri Ajoy Mehta came to an end. Shri Mehta had taken the helm in February 2021, at a difficult time for the sector, when the aftermath of COVID-19 was still affecting construction, finances and dispute resolution.

The pressure on the institution is tangible. MahaRERA’s 2023-24 annual report recorded 24,906 complaints, including 23,932 against registered projects.

Excessive Complexity Harms RE Industry

A strong regulator is necessary when dealing with such volumes. But volume alone does not justify a system in which every registration, correction, extension or amendment becomes slower, more document-heavy and reliant on intermediaries. A regulator should not become a parallel planning authority, a proxy for municipal bodies, or an additional procedural layer on top of an already crowded approval framework.

We, Maharashtra’s developers, do not ask for less accountability. Rather, what we seek is clarity, proportionality and predictability in regulation. Buyers, too, benefit when viable projects are registered early, financed properly, constructed on time and delivered with fewer disputes.

Reinstating Declaration-Based Registration

The state government and MahaRERA need to revisit whether project registration has drifted too far from the declaration-based framework envisaged under RERA. Registration should focus on whether the required disclosures, approvals and professional certifications have been submitted in the prescribed form. Detailed verification and enforcement can then follow through risk-based audits, complaints, inspections and penalties for false disclosure.

This is especially relevant in relation to development potential and revisions to approved plans. In many large developments, plans evolve because of legitimate design changes, updated approvals, infrastructure conditions or implementation requirements. Where a project’s stated FSI position changes within the permissions allowed by the planning regime, the promoter should be able to update the registration through a defined, time-bound process rather than having to enter a correction cycle repeatedly.

MahaRERA should also issue a clear policy on phase-wise and vertical registration. The Act itself acknowledges that a phased project may be registered in stages. The ability to register a logically independent vertical or phase – with clear disclosure of common infrastructure, access, obligations and timelines – can lead to better funding discipline and greater buyer transparency in high-density urban markets such as Mumbai and Pune.

The question is not whether this should be permitted without safeguards. It should not. The question is whether those safeguards can be standardised rather than determined afresh in every application.

Cut Down Unnecessary Complexity

MahaRERA’s circulars and orders are useful when they clarify the law. Public records from the authority show that circulars have addressed matters ranging from approvals and complaint hearings to project grading, quality assurance, bank accounts and stakeholder training for the MahaCRITI software system.

But every new requirement should pass a simple test: Is it clearly supported by the Act or rules? Is it necessary to protect buyers? And can it be complied with through the portal without leaving room for subjective interpretation?

If the answer is no, the requirement should be reviewed or withdrawn. Compliance through circulars cannot quietly grow into a second set of rules. Frequent changes to forms, IT processes and documentation requirements create uncertainty for everyone involved – developers, homebuyers, lenders, architects, lawyers and project consultants.

The government should commission an independent audit of MahaRERA’s registration processes, technology contracts, staffing levels, response times and user experience. This audit should examine vendor performance, transparency, procurement compliance, data security and measurable delivery outcomes.

It should not be directed at any specific company unless a proper investigation establishes a specific concern. Claims about individual contractors, including claims of blacklisting elsewhere, cannot be treated as conclusive without official records and should not, by themselves, drive policy decisions.

Technology can reduce delay and discretion. A well-designed portal can flag missing documents, identify inconsistent disclosures, track approvals, provide standardised amendment pathways and publish application-stage timelines. The state may consider engaging specialised technology and process-management firms through transparent procurement, while regulatory decisions remain with MahaRERA.

In today’s world, such processes should be the norm, leaving little scope for discretion at junior levels. Excessive discretion can create inconsistent interpretations, avoidable subjectivity and, at times, coercive practices. The goal should be a lean and accountable institution – not an office where applicants must navigate multiple desks, departments and consultants simply to understand what is required of them.

Recognise Genuine Delays

Another important issue that must be addressed is delays beyond the promoter’s control. Planning authorities, utilities and other public agencies can cause administrative delays that stall projects even when construction is substantially complete.

Delays in MHADA processes can be especially damaging in redevelopment and social-housing projects, where occupation certificates and possession may depend on actions outside the developer’s control. MHADA has acknowledged issues relating to occupation certificates in certain redeveloped colonies and introduced a six-month amnesty arrangement for specified cases in 2024.

Regulatory responses to external supply-chain disruptions also need to be more realistic. Recent reports have highlighted how trade and energy disruptions in the Middle East have placed pressure on tiles, sanitaryware, marble, steel and cement. Gas constraints, for instance, can affect manufacturing and supply timelines.

These events should not automatically excuse delay, nor should they be used as a blanket defence. But MahaRERA should establish a transparent framework for assessing force majeure and government-related delays – one that distinguishes between avoidable project mismanagement and events genuinely beyond a project’s control.

If a public authority fails to fulfil an obligation linked to an OC or social-housing requirement, an automatic compensation order against the promoter may be financially unfair and, in the longer run, may harm buyers as well. The answer is not to deny buyers relief. It is to establish a process that correctly identifies responsibility, clearly records the delay and, where necessary, brings the responsible public agency into the process.

A Time-Bound Reform Plan

We therefore urge the Maharashtra government to constitute a 30-day reform committee comprising former MahaRERA leaders, consumer representatives, planners, legal experts, lenders, technology specialists and developer bodies.

Its mandate should be practical: simplify registration, set timelines for amendments, standardise phase-wise and vertical-registration rules, rationalise circulars, improve portal accountability, and establish a fair mechanism to address delays caused by government agencies or force majeure events.

MahaRERA remains one of Maharashtra’s most important institutions. It has processed more than 52,000 project registrations and over 25,000 complaint orders, demonstrating both its scale and public importance.

If the objective of the Act is to regulate and support the industry while protecting homebuyers, accountability must extend beyond developers alone. Planning authorities and other public agencies are integral stakeholders in the real estate-development process. Bringing their actions, timelines and delays within a suitable RERA-led accountability framework would significantly improve time-bound project delivery in the interests of homebuyers.

It is time for RERA 2.0 – an approach that makes meaningful procedural changes, enables real estate to deliver better outcomes for customers, and allows the sector to function as a stronger economic engine for Maharashtra. Reforming the way MahaRERA functions is not an argument against regulation. It is an argument for faster, clearer and more credible regulation. After all, the housing market cannot adequately serve buyers if compliant projects become unviable before they are completed.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 6: After years of relentless struggle, aspiring actor Hariom Aryan is all set to make his Bollywood music debut. The talented artist will be launched this August in an upcoming Bollywood song directed by Harry Thakur, with the music video scheduled to be filmed in Madhya Pradesh. The song is expected to release in September across leading digital platforms, including YouTube, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Hungama, and several other music streaming services.

For Hariom Aryan, this project is much more than just another release—it represents the realization of a dream he has pursued with unwavering determination for years.

Born on 11 October 1996 in Rampura village, Post Gopalpur, Kalyanpur, Samastipur district of Bihar, Hariom belongs to a modest family. His father, Sushil Jha, served at a hospital near Kalyanpur, while his mother, Krishna Devi, is a homemaker. Being the youngest among three brothers, Hariom completed his schooling at Kalyanpur High School before earning a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry Honours).

Although he had an academic background, his heart was always set on acting. He spent nearly five years performing in theatre in Patna, where he developed his craft and gained confidence as a performer. In 2020, he left for Mumbai with the hope of building a career in the entertainment industry.

However, the road to success proved far from easy. Hariom began by working as a junior artist in the film Padmaavat and later appeared in numerous television reality shows, including Dance Plus, India’s Best Dancer (IBD), and several other productions. While these opportunities kept him connected to the industry, they were not enough to provide financial stability.

To support himself, Hariom accepted every opportunity that came his way. During one of the most challenging phases of his life, he spent nearly five to six months working at wedding events, serving water and performing other duties just to meet his daily expenses. Despite facing financial hardship and uncertainty, he never gave up on his dream of becoming an actor.

Perhaps the biggest sacrifice in his journey has been staying away from his loved ones. Hariom has not returned to his hometown for nearly six years, driven by a personal promise that he would only go back after achieving success in Mumbai.

That long-awaited breakthrough came when he met director Harry Thakur, who offered him a leading opportunity by introducing him through his upcoming music album. Hariom believes this project has given him a fresh identity and opened the doors to a promising future in the entertainment industry.

Speaking about the opportunity, Hariom expressed heartfelt gratitude to the director.

“Harry Thakur Sir believed in me when many opportunities seemed out of reach. I am thankful to him for giving me this platform and a chance to prove myself. This is just the beginning, and I will continue working hard to make my family and supporters proud,” he said.

Director Harry Thakur, who is also associated with the YouTube podcast platform The Boys On Work, is confident that the project will introduce a fresh face to audiences and mark the beginning of Hariom Aryan’s journey in mainstream entertainment.

From a small village in Bihar to the sets of a Bollywood music production, Hariom Aryan’s story reflects the resilience, patience, and determination required to survive in one of the world’s most competitive entertainment industries. His journey serves as an inspiration for countless young dreamers who continue to chase their aspirations despite the odds.

By Dr. Rahul Ved, (B.D.S , M.D.S , Micro Endodontist)

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 7: For decades, hearing the words “You need a root canal” has been enough to make many people anxious. Stories of painful procedures, multiple visits, or failed treatments have created a fear that still exists today. Yet, modern dentistry has changed dramatically. Today, one of the biggest advances in saving natural teeth is micro endodontics a technique that combines advanced technology with precision to make root canal treatment safer, more predictable, and more successful.

Unfortunately, many people are still unaware that not all root canal treatments are performed the same way.

Seeing the Difference

Imagine trying to repair the intricate machinery inside a wristwatch while wearing thick gloves and without enough light. Now imagine doing the same work under high magnification with bright illumination. The difference is obvious.

Root canals are often thinner than a strand of spaghetti, and many teeth contain hidden branches, extra canals, or tiny cracks that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

A dental operating microscope changes everything.

It magnifies the treatment area several times while providing intense illumination, allowing dentists to see details that would otherwise remain invisible. This precision helps in cleaning and sealing the tooth more effectively, reducing the chances of infection being left behind.

Simply put, what the dentist can see directly influences the quality of treatment.

As an endodontist, I strongly believe in one simple philosophy:

“If I see better, I do better.”

What Exactly Is Micro Endodontics?

Micro endodontics is a modern approach to root canal treatment performed under a dental operating microscope using specialized instruments and advanced techniques.

Unlike conventional root canal treatment, where visibility depends mainly on the dentist’s eyesight and overhead light, micro endodontics allows the clinician to work with exceptional precision.

This doesn’t just benefit the dentist – it benefits the patient through more accurate treatment and better long-term outcomes.

Why It Matters

A root canal is performed to remove infection from inside a tooth while preserving the tooth itself.

If even one canal is missed or inadequately cleaned, bacteria may survive and cause persistent pain or reinfection.

Research has shown that one of the common reasons for failed root canal treatment is missed canals – tiny pathways inside the tooth that remain untreated simply because they were not visible.

With microscope-assisted treatment, these hidden canals are far more likely to be detected.

Better Precision, Less Guesswork

Modern dentistry is moving away from experience alone and toward experience supported by technology.

A dental operating microscope helps dentists:

• Locate hidden canals
• Identify tiny fractures in teeth
• Remove infected tissue more precisely
• Preserve healthy tooth structure
• Perform minimally invasive treatment
• Improve long-term success rates

Instead of removing excessive tooth structure to “search” for canals, dentists can preserve more of the natural tooth.

This helps maintain the tooth’s strength for years to come.

When a Previous Root Canal Fails

Many people believe that once a root canal fails, the only solution is extraction followed by a dental implant.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions in dentistry.

In many cases, the tooth can still be saved through micro endodontic retreatment.

During retreatment, the old filling material is carefully removed, hidden canals are identified, the source of infection is eliminated, and the canals are cleaned and sealed again.

The microscope plays a critical role in this process because it allows the dentist to identify the exact reason why the previous treatment failed.

Saving Teeth Before Replacing Them

Dental implants are among the greatest advances in dentistry and have helped millions of patients worldwide.

However, an implant should replace a tooth only when that tooth truly cannot be saved.

A natural tooth has a periodontal ligament that provides sensation, shock absorption, and natural chewing mechanics—features that even the best implant cannot fully replica

Micro endodontics has greatly expanded our ability to do preserve the natural tooth.

Is Microscope-Assisted Root Canal More Painful?

Quite the opposite.

Patients are often surprised by how comfortable modern root canal treatment has become.

Advanced anesthesia, rotary instruments, improved irrigation systems, and precise microscope-guided techniques make the procedure smoother and more predictable than ever before.

Is Every Root Canal Done Under a Microscope?

No. Although microscopes have become the standard of care in many advanced endodontic practices across the world, they are still not used routinely in every dental clinic.

Many patients are unaware that they can ask whether their treatment will be performed using a dental operating microscope.

Questions Every Patient Should Ask

Before undergoing a root canal treatment, it is reasonable to ask your dentist:

Will my treatment be performed under a dental operating microscope?• Will digital X-rays or advanced imaging be used?• Is there any possibility that the tooth has extra canals?• If this is a repeat root canal, why did the previous one fail?• Can my natural tooth still be saved?

These questions encourage meaningful discussions and help patients understand the treatment being recommended.

Dentistry Is Becoming More Precise

Just as surgeons today perform minimally invasive procedures using specialized cameras and magnification, dentistry is also embracing technologies that improve precision and patient outcomes.

The dental operating microscope represents one of the most important advances in modern endodontics.

It allows dentists to work with greater confidence while giving patients a better chance of preserving their natural teeth for many years.

The Takeaway

A root canal should not be viewed simply as a procedure to relieve pain—it is a treatment designed to save a tooth.

Micro endodontics has changed the way root canals are performed by replacing guesswork with precision.

For patients, this means better diagnosis, more predictable treatment, greater preservation of healthy tooth structure, and, most importantly, a higher likelihood of keeping their natural smile.
