The 26th International Pigment Cell Conference (IPCC 2026) and the 7th Pigmentary Conference take place on April 30th - May 3rd, 2026 At India Habitat Center in New Delhi. This four-day global conference will bring together leading professionals, practitioners, researchers, and health care providers in the field of dermatology, both from India and from countries around the world. For over a decade, the Pigmentary Disorders Society (PDS) has sponsored this event in India for the first time. Approximately 30 international experts and 70 national experts will be participating in the scientific program.

IPCC 2026's Focus Areas

The sessions scheduled include keynote talks, round table discussions, as well as live clinical workshops and demonstrations. There will be an emphasis on serious pigmentary skin disorders such as:

Vitiligo

Melasma

Hyperpigmentation

Albinism

All other issues related to the pigmentation of the skin

The overall goal of IPCC 2026 is to provide a venue for knowledge sharing among all areas of dermatology, genetics, medical research, and patient care as well as to share current treatment techniques and to set worldwide clinical standards.

The Need for More Awareness of Pigmentary Disorders

Increasingly medical professionals and the general public are paying attention to pigmentary disorders. This is especially true in India due to gender bias issues, misinformation regarding these disorders, and the continued use of over-the-counter products by patients. Providing accurate diagnoses and evidence-based treatments is now MORE important than ever before.

Dr. Henry Lim, the President of the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS), stated that concerns regarding unsafe skin care practices, substances used in many lighting products, and improper use of corticosteroids can have a harmful effect; therefore, improving awareness and clinical safety are critical for the overall improvement of global skin health.

Safe Treatment and Early Diagnosis are a Must According to Experts

Dr. Rashmi Sarkar the President of the Pigmentary Disorders Society and the Organising Chair of IPCC 2026, pointed to the common misconception surrounding pigmentary disorders, which have caused many patients to delay seeking treatment and have negatively impacted their ability to achieve the best possible patient outcome. Dr. Sarkar stated that patients deserve "dignity", "awareness", and "evidence-based care".

According to Dr. Latika Arya, who is a Consultant Dermatologist in New Delhi, it is always safer to seek medical advice from an appropriately certified dermatologist rather than attempting to self-treat or following less than adequately trained individuals’ beauty increase advice. If patients want to achieve optimal results, they will benefit from seeing a licensed specialist who will accurately diagnose their skin issues and tailor the right course of treatment.

According to the Organizing Secretary of the IPCC 2026, Dr Surabhi Sinha, the improper use of topical steroids and skin-lightening products can cause lasting damage to the skin.

Social Implications of Skin Disorders and the Hidden Effects on Society

Dr Amit Kumar Meena, Physician and Consultant at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, discussed how skin disease and visible pigment problems can lead to social stigma/discrimination that affects how people feel about themselves and subsequently affects how they interact with others and participate in their daily lives.

Through utilizing and leveraging the expert-level contributions of different members of our international panel of experts (faculty), the 2026 Conference in New Delhi will offer new collaborative structures to perform research projects related to developing individual patient pathways and/or standards of care; provide efficient and timely access to evidence-based therapies for patients with pigment-related disorders worldwide; provide opportunities for enhancing clinical practice by establishing quality metrics associated with pigmentary disorders and the safe use of these therapies, etc.

Stress is everywhere in today's society! The way we work, the things we need to get done and how busy everybody is are all factors that influence our psychological state. Many people try to manage their stress levels in a variety of ways however, most of these options take time or require a lot of work. One of the simplest yet most effective methods of reducing stress is the natural activity of breathing. When you concentrate on using the proper breath during your breathing process, you can free yourself of distractions from your mind and find balance once again without going through any kind of complicated process.

The Importance Of Breathing Properly

The shallowness of the way you take in air can either benefit or hinder your body's strength and emotional experience. If a person is experiencing extreme stress, then their breathing can become very fast and shallow. This type of breathing has the potential to greatly increase a person's level of anxiety, but if a person is breathing deeply and slowly, then this type of breathing can help calm the individual's nervous system, and produce feelings of calmness and calm thinking. By developing a habit of being aware of your breath during the entire day, it can help to increase the individual's emotional and mental health by improving the quality of the way they breathe.

Breathing Technique - Anulom Vilom Breath

Anulom Vilom is a wonderful way to control your breathing for stress relief. Using a conscious pattern of inhales through one side of the nasal passages and exhales through the opposite side provides benefits to the mental state that can help clear the mind of any distracting thoughts, build concentration skills, and reduce symptoms of anxiety. This method improves your overall ability to transport oxygen to the brain and enhance its function when done consistently.

Breathing Techniques For Reducing Stress

If you are completely exhausted after a long day at work, try doing some very slow and very deep breathing for just five minutes. It will greatly change how your body feels overall.

Meditate With Controlled Breathing For Mental State Of Calmness

Adding a technique for meditation to your controlled breathing will give you a more improved feeling of mental well being than controlled breathing alone. When you are in a quiet location, close your eyes and focus on your breath; this process will cause you to have minimal to no distractions come to you and will also help the person be more able to concentrate and focus.

Consistency Is Key

The result of developing this type of breath control will not occur instantaneously. In order to develop your ability to maintain control of your breath you will need to practice taking slow deep breaths daily, for several minutes at a time. By practicing these techniques on a daily basis over a period of time, you should experience an overall reduction in anxiety and an improvement in your mood which will allow for you to live a more balanced and calmer lifestyle.

Concerns about digestive health are increasing across India as a result of rapid lifestyles, unhealthy diets, and lack of movement. However, very little is known about serious gastrointestinal diseases such as colorectal cancer. As part of this investigation into the way people view their digestive symptoms and the way they seek medical attention, Merck Specialities Pvt Ltd funded a National Lifestyle and Digestive Health Awareness Survey.

The survey was based upon 14 major cities in India and interviewed 10,198 individuals aged between 25-65. It produced some alarming results. Of those surveyed; over 80% of respondents prefer to self-medicate when they have problems with digestion, such as acid reflux, indigestion or constipation. Additionally; over 65% said they did not have regular bowel movements; over 50% indicated that they eat outside or consume packaged meals on a regular basis and close to 55% do not get regular exercise. Furthermore; 39.9% of respondents used tobacco which is known to be a significant cause of gastrointestinal disorders.

Equally concerning is that of the individuals surveyed, over 80% did not know that blood in the stool is a potential early indicator of a colorectal cancer, and approximately 40% of younger individuals indicated that they ignored their digestive symptoms by attributing them to poor lifestyle choices.

In Delhi where 679 people were surveyed, the level of awareness and the way in which people sought medical advice was particularly concerning. Over 80% of respondents did not recognise blood in the stool as a symptom of concern; and nearly 90% of individuals chose to use home remedies or over-the-counter medications, as opposed to consulting with their doctor for ongoing bowel problems. Only 10.5% of respondents reported that they would seek medical assistance.
Digestive problems were prevalent: more than 65% of individuals reported having irregular bowel habits and more than 80% felt they had not completely emptied their bowels. Behavior risk factors included the frequent consumption of outside food (86%) and very few (35.5%) exercising regularly. There was also a significant proportion (39.2%) who used tobacco products.

Barriers to using health care services included time constraints (35.4%), fear of being embarrassed (31.1%), and not enough information (17.9%). Approximately 80% did not know that some serious digestive diseases can also be present without any pain, thereby increasing the risk of being diagnosed at a later date.

Many experts have stated that the majority of colorectal tumors develop from pre-cancerous growths (polyps). Colorectal cancer is a type of cancer that can be treated if detected early on, primarily through screening. Many symptoms are associated with changes in bowel habits, including blood in the stool, abdominal pain, fatigue, and weight loss without cause.

The study shows that if there is greater awareness of colorectal cancer as well as faster access to care, improved nutrition, regular exercise and routine screening; these factors could help lower the rate of increase in colorectal cancer rates in India.

SS Innovations International Inc. (SSII) is the creator of India’s first ever homegrown surgical robotic system, SSII Mantra. The company has landed another landmark achievement by performing a total of 100 robotic telesurgeries. This is a significant feat for technology-enabled health care as this indicates it is possible to perform complex surgical procedures through distance safely & reliably by using an indigenous product.

To celebrate this accomplishment, SSII conducted the first-ever Marathon Robotic Telesurgery in India with over 20 robotic surgeries in one day. The marathon secured the clinical validation of SSII Mantra platform in a real-world scenario and demonstrated that it is precise, safe and scalable to multiple surgical specialties. The event also highlighted how crucial robotic telesurgery is to increasing the strength of the health care infrastructure and continuing to deliver specialized care to patients who live outside of urban areas.

In a nation with a 1.4 billion populace, patients possess very little opportunity for advanced surgical options, and thus the meaningfulness of this milestone is immense due to the creation of a vehicle for experts to work in conjunction with surgeons at remote sites through the SSII Mantra to enable surgical and specialty care to be provided across large geographic distances. The SSII Mantra also helps to diminish health care access and availability disparities in rural versus urban areas and provides for equitable healthcare delivery to all citizens. This achievement further establishes India as a global leader when it comes to surgical innovation and medical technology.

According to Dr Sudhir Srivastava, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SS Innovations International Inc., the achievement of completing the first 100 telesurgeries and conducting the first Marathon Robotic Telesurgery event has established SS Innovations Ltd as a leader in Indian MedTech Innovation. It highlights our vision and commitment to resolve the geographical barriers of surgical care in India and throughout the world through use of the SSII Mantra robotic telesurgery system.

The Marathon Robotic Telesurgery event had participation from top surgeons in multiple specialties who shared their thoughts on how well the platform worked. According to Dr. Sudhir Rawal, a cancer specialist at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, the introduction of robotic telesurgery gives patients who may not have access to specialized service providers the opportunity to obtain an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment in a timely manner.

When the word malnutrition comes in the minds, everyone imagines thinness, weakness, and hunger. The term has been associated with undernourishment in the past. But the experts in the health department now warn that malnutrition is not only about food deficiency—it is more closely associated with obesity and lifestyle disorders like diabetes.

By 2025, the UNICEF projects that school-aged children and adolescents living with obesity will exceed those living with underweight conditions by a landslide of a global change. The change holds grave risks not just to health but also to the social and economic development of entire countries and communities.

The UN agency's Child Nutrition Report identifies unhealthy food environments as one of the main causes of this crisis. Dr. Rajeev Jayadevan, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Indian Medical Association in Cochin, makes clear: "When we hear about malnutrition, we think of skinny children. But now, malnutrition can lead to obesity as well. Low-income families tend to purchase inexpensive foods containing a lot of sugar and fat, but little nutrients."

Also Read: Say Goodbye To Rubbery Paneer: 3 Easy Tips To Keep Fried Paneer Soft And Tender

Sweetened beverages, heavily promoted and sponsored by celebrities, are a case in point. Although cheap, these are major contributors to obesity and diabetes. Well-educated and health-conscious people tend to select protein-high, fiber-rich diets with lots of fruits, vegetables, and water, reflecting the extreme disparity in knowledge and price.

Experts also warn that malnutrition does not end with one generation. Malnourished mothers tend to have children who are preprogrammed to become obese, especially when they subsequently have access to plentiful, high-calorie diets.

This was seen in a study released in Cell Metabolism by Indian scientists. It looked at 50 generations of undernourished mice and found elevated levels of insulin and reduced vitamin B12 and folate. Even when later generations received nutritious food, the metabolic changes continued—proof of long-term epigenetic impact.

Dr. Sanjeev Galande, Dean at Shiv Nadar University and an author of the study, called this the "double burden of malnutrition."

<media:keywords>homemade paneer hacks, soft paneer recipe trick, paneer recipe tips, kitchen tips for paneer, paneer recipe</media:keywords>

Have you ever been left with the rubbery and dry paneer after frying? Then You're not alone in this. Paneer is a main dish in many Indian recipes, but when it is not treated properly, those golden cubes of panner turn very hard and chewy — a far cry from the soft, melt-in-your-mouth goodness which we adore. But not to worry in this, with a few simple tricks before and after cooking, you can make your paneer soft, juicy, and restaurant-quality.

The Reason Of Paneer Become Hard After Frying?

The culprit is mostly the store-bought paneer, which is typically made from cow's milk and pressed very hard. This variety of paneer is very denser and less porous than the buffalo-milk paneer. When fried, the moisture is released as steam and creating tiny holes which can make the paneer rubbery when cooled. But you can turn that around with the right prepration and technique.

Pre-Frying Soak: The Moisture Boost

If you're using paneer very straight from the fridge then don't fry it immediately. Cold paneer is more likely to harden. Instead: Let it sit at room temperature for half an hour to 1 hour then Cut it into even small cubes. Soak in warm salted water for 10 minutes. This rehydrates and softens the paneer before it even hits the pan.

The Right Frying Method: Gentle & Golden

Frying paneer is not all about to dumping it into the hot oil. A few small changes can either make a big difference. Use medium to medium-high heat — not too hot. Instead of deep frying use shallow frying to get a crisp exterior without drying the inside. Turn the cubes gently and only when necessary to avoid breaking or overcooking them. This method gives you that golden crust while keeping the inside soft.

Post-Fry Soak: The Game-Changer

Immediately after frying the paneer then soak the hot paneer in warm, lightly salted water. Leave it for about 10 minutes. This trick rehydrates the paneer and fills the steam-created voids, restoring the softness of paneer. Don't soak for more than even 15 minutes, or the cubes will become soggy. Gently press each piece to drain excess water before adding to your dish.

Frying enhances the flavor of paneer, but it doesn’t have to ruin its texture. Combine these pre- and post-cooking hacks, and you’ll enjoy soft, succulent paneer every time — no more rubbery disappointments.

Voice of Healthcare (VOH), in partnership with HORIBA India, convened a landmark roundtable in New Delhi on "The Role of Diagnostics in Curbing the Irrational Use of Antibiotics at the Point of Care." The programme brought together leading clinicians, policymakers, microbiologists, and diagnostics professionals to discuss antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — recently announced as the second biggest global health threat after climate change.

India continues to be one of the most affected countries for AMR because of irrational antibiotic use, unrestricted over-the-counter sales, and non-evidence-based prescribing practices, particularly in the ICUs and emergency departments. In spite of the technologies available, cheap and prompt diagnosis is unavailable, leading to over-prescription and misuse of antibiotics. The roundtable hoped to cover diagnostic stewardship as one of the solutions.

The conference was formally opened with a keynote address given by Dr Naveen Nishchal, Founder Chairman, VOH, referring to the AMR global awareness and need for collaboration for all parties at this pivotal moment. Dr. Rajeev Gautam, Sr. Corporate Officer, HORIBA Ltd. Japan & President, HORIBA India, provided thoughts on HORIBA's CSR initiative towards preventive healthcare awareness.

Dr. Rajeev Gautam, Sr. Corporate Officer, HORIBA Ltd. Japan and President, HORIBA India, followed with a keynote from an industry leader’s perspective. He shared how HORIBA — traditionally known for its global leadership in medical diagnostics, bio life sciences, automotive and semiconductor sectors — conceived this initiative as part of their healthcare Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment in India. “This gathering isn’t about technology showcases; it’s about creating awareness and bringing diverse stakeholders to one table. While we do have diagnostic instruments, our focus today is building a movement of sensitivity and shared responsibility around the effective use of antibiotics.” remarked Dr. Gautam, affirming HORIBA’s dedication to public health advocacy. This program was a CSR initiative by HORIBA India to promote awareness for preventive healthcare, contributing to the overall well-being of the society.

Supported by Dr. Ravi Gaur, Chairperson, Medical Advisory Committee, Oncquest Laboratories, the panel discussion brought to the fore the manner in which AMR slowly builds up into uncontrollable infections and how point-of-care (PoC) testing can help in avoiding its spread. Dr. Lata Kapoor, Additional Director, NCDC, MoHFW, made the observation about AMR as a "silent pandemic" and highlighted the importance of PoC diagnostics being part of India's national AMR strategy.

The roundtable passed through two sessions — specifying present diagnostic gaps and breaking out into scalable, strategic recommendations. The recommendations were the utilisation of hospital antibiograms, upscaled AMR surveillance, promotion of syndromic PoC diagnostics, and building clinician stewardship education. Experts also said to take such initiatives out to non-metro regions into tier-2 and tier-3 cities, and rural counties.

Closing addresses by Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Gaur highlighted the importance of decision-making based on diagnostics, policy convergence, and national awareness. This was followed by a networking dinner to further enhance cooperation.

This roundtable is an important milestone towards establishing diagnostic channels, prudent use of antibiotics, and strengthening India's fight against AMR through collective stakeholder action.

In a first-of-its-kind medical miracle, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram, successfully removed a 10.3 kg and 35 x 26 cm gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) from a 58-year-old man's abdomen. Md Abdullah Hussain had been experiencing severe abdominal pain, black stools, weakness, and anemia for three months. Although he had visited various hospitals for the treatment, no alternative was attempted due to the risks involved. As a last resort, he reached Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram.

A CT scan diagnosed a gigantic vascular tumor occupying the abdominal cavity. A team of physicians, led by Dr. Amit Javed, Senior Director, Gastrointestinal Oncology, Minimal Access, and Bariatric Surgery, performed a very complex gastrectomy to remove the tumor. Since the tumor had engulfed and adhered to the entire stomach, the panel was forced to entirely take out the organ. The intricate surgery lasted 6-7 hours, and to everyone's surprise, the patient was discharged in stable condition nine days later.

Dr. Amit Javed explained, "This operation was quite challenging due to the size of the tumor and its impact on nearby organs. The tumor compressed big vessels and pushed the small bowel, pancreas, spleen, stomach, and duodenum. GISTs are benign or malignant, and the most common complication is lethal bleeding." Fortunately, we removed it in time. Since the stomach serves as a reservoir for the food, we reconstructed it using a pouch of the small intestine, which we then connected with the esophagus. Now the patient is recovering well.

Yash Rawat, VP and Facility Director, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram, emphasized the case's complexity by saying, "It took exemplary clinical acumen to treat such a huge tumor. Under the leadership of Dr. Amit Javed, our team showed superior skill in managing this complicated case. Fortis Hospital Gurugram is dedicated to delivering the best possible care, with guaranteed success even in the most delicate cases."

This landmark procedure reflects the hospital's quality in the new cancer treatment and gastrointestinal surgeries, upholding its purpose to save lives and deliver world-class medical care.

In a dramatic demonstration of contemporary medical science, 100-year-old Mr. S. C. Kapur's life has been greatly enhanced after a successful hip replacement surgery at Sawan Neelu Angel's Hospital, Saket, New Delhi. The operation was carried out by world-class seasoned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Rahul Sharma.

In centenarian and older patients, hip fractures can lead to lifelong immobilization, severe pain, and infections and blood loss as complications. But with today's medicine, treatment has dramatically improved. Studies show that by 2026 India will have up to 600,000 osteoporotic hip fractures annually with high mortality.

Also Read: Fortis Gurugram, IAP, and IMA Haryana Come Together to Spread Awareness on Pediatric Cancer

Dr. Sharma, a shoulder, knee, and hip surgeon and founder of the Life in Motion Clinic, noted the subtlety of working with older patients:
"A hip fracture in an older patient can be fatal. Surgery, with formal rehab, is key to regaining mobility and achieving a better quality of life."

Mr. Kapur suffered a bad hip fracture from a household fall. Based on his age and conditions, his only viable option was emergent hip replacement. The surgery was performed in official asepsis and took one to two hours. Astonishingly, he was home in three days and had an aggressive course of rehabilitation, with significant movement and ease of recovery.

"Elderly adults have multiple conditions such as decreased mobility, balance, and chronic conditions like cardiovascular disease and diabetes," Dr. Sharma said. "Our aim is not only to repair the injury but to make the patient a better, healthier individual.".

This path-breaking surgery is a source of encouragement for the elderly, and the fact that it's a testament to the requirement for early orthopaedic care and rehabilitation centers in India cannot be overlooked. With the senior population increasing day by day, such sophisticated medical intervention will prove to be instrumental in the independence and well-being of aged citizens.

Gurugram: Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Gurugram, came together with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) and the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Haryana, to organize a media briefing on International Childhood Cancer Day to spread awareness on early detection and timely treatment of pediatric cancers. The event saw the unveiling of a poster outlining the '10 Early Signs of Childhood Cancer,' with a view to initiating awareness among parents and healthcare professionals about early warning signs to increase survival rates.

Dr. Vikas Dua, Principal Director and Head of Pediatric Hematology, Hemato-Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant at FMRI, in his speech on the event, emphasized the role of early diagnosis to improve outcomes. He further said, "India has close to 50,000 new cancer cases in children annually. Early detection, correct diagnosis, and timely treatment are the key to better survival rates. A persistent fever, pallor of skin, lethargy, unexplained bleeding or easy bruising should prompt immediate medical referral. Family physicians play an important role in noticing these early warning signs."

Dr. Neelam Mohan, National President-Elect of IAP, stated, "Cancer is the second leading cause of death in children above the age of one. Detection at an early stage will go a long way in reducing mortality to a large degree as over 80% of cancer in children can be cured if the treatment is taken in time. Awareness, alertness, and action on time can save lives."

Dr. Mahaveer Jain, President, IMA Haryana, and Dr. Ajay Arora, President, IMA Gurugram, emphasized community involvement. "Childhood is meant to be a period of happiness, not fighting diseases. By creating awareness and providing the correct information to medical professionals, we can enhance survival rates and avoid diagnostic delays," they said.

The seminar reinforced that leukemia, brain tumor, lymphoma, and solid tumors like neuroblastoma and Wilms tumor are the majority of cancers found in children. Genetic predisposition and radiation exposure are risk factors.

The collaboration aims to achieve timely diagnosis and treatment, thus increasing the potential for children with cancer to enjoy a healthy life.

For the first time in India, doctors at Fortis Escorts, Okhla, successfully treated a 6-year-old boy from Uzbekistan with Bilateral Wilms Tumour-a rare form of pediatric kidney cancer.

He had bilateral kidney tumors. The chemotherapy done in Uzbekistan was not going to help, and his family sought further advanced care in India. Dr. Paresh Jain, Director of Urology & Kidney Transplant, led a talented team that did a groundbreaking procedure called a kidney auto-transplant. The surgery lasted for eight hours, but the child came out very smooth.

Initial evaluations showed that the left kidney was badly damaged, and it was not feasible to attempt resection of the tumor completely. In August 2024, surgeons performed a laparoscopic right partial nephrectomy, excising the diseased portion of the right kidney and the lymph nodes. The boy underwent biopsy of the left kidney. Chemotherapy was continued in Uzbekistan post-surgery. A follow-up in November was good.

Also Read: What Is HMPV Virus(Human Metapneumovirus): Symptoms, Prevention Measure & Cure

After a period of treatment, the doctors noticed that on the left kidney, thick tissues covered it and were the after-products of past surgeries. For this, surgeons operated on it by removing a small portion through an incision on the abdomen to ensure proper removal of a tumor without injuring any of its vital organs such as blood vessels and urinary channels. All were accurately reconstructed before putting in a cancer-free kidney. This avoided maternal kidney donation and lifelong immunosuppression in order to maintain both the child's and his mother's health.

Dr Jain added, "This case is important; Wilms Tumour usually manifests in very young children and advances to a condition that requires immediate surgical intervention. It is the 17th of its kind in the whole world and the first case reported in India. We managed to prevent multiple transplants during his lifetime by preserving the natural functioning of his kidney.".

She further added, "The doctors at Fortis gave us hope and saved our son's life. He is now healthy, playing, and smiling again."

Dr Vikram Aggarwal, Facility Director, Fortis Escorts, said, "This achievement stands testimony to the multidisciplinary expertise of the hospital and commitment to excellence in healthcare.".

Overall, patients will get better results.

This surgical robot was launched by the Chief Guest Smt. Smriti Irani (BJP Leader & Former Union Minister). Present on the occasion were Dr Ashok Seth, Chairman, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute & Fortis Healthcare Medical Council, Dr Bishnu Panigrahi, Group Head – MSOG, Dr Z S Meharwal – Chairman & Head – Adult Cardiac Surgery, VAD Programme & Heart Transplant Fortis Escorts, Okhla, New Delhi, Dr Ritwik Raj Bhuyan, Director, Adult Cardiac Surgery, Dr Milind Hote, Director, Adult Cardiac Surgery, Dr Paresh Jain, Director, Urology & Kidney Transplant, Dr Sanjay Verma, Director, Minimal Access, GI & Bariatric Surgery and Dr Vikram Aggarwal, Facility Director, Fortis Escorts, Okhla.

Speaking at the launch, Smt Smriti Irani, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Union Minister said, “I congratulate Fortis Healthcare for providing leadership in adopting advanced medical technology like surgical robots.

Dr Ritwik Raj Bhuyan, Director, Adult Cardiac Surgery, Fortis Escorts, Okhla, New Delhi said, "The surgical robot is different from other surgical systems in that its open console design gives the surgeon a 3D view of the surgery site. This increases precision and eliminates the need for large bone cuts during cardiac procedures. The 360-degree vision allows a clearer view of the internal structures, resulting in more efficient tissue handling and reduced post-surgical trauma. In cardiac bypass operations, it enables complete restoration of blood flow to the blocked arteries and also minimizes surgical scarring. In addition, certain valve repair procedures and closure of other congenital heart defects are also performed with just 2 small pinhole incisions, and the patient is discharged within 3 days of surgery.”

Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram has achieved a significant medical milestone by successfully treating a 14-month-old Kenyan infant, diagnosed with Pearson Syndrome, an exceptionally rare and life-threatening disorder. The prevalence of the rare ailment is approximately 1 in a million, with only 150 such cases mentioned in medical literature. The Team of Doctors led by Dr Vikas Dua, Principal Director and Head, Paediatric Haematology, Haemato Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram performed a stem cell transplant with thoroughly planned chemotherapy regimen. The patient was discharged in a stable condition within 21 days and has been under regular weekly OPD follow-ups. This is a First such case treated in India of half-matched donor and 7th Bone Marrow Transplant, as reported in medical literature for treatment of Pearson Syndrome.

Patient Baby Arianna, had been suffering from severe anaemia since birth, which significantly affected her overall growth and development. She had undergone multiple blood and platelet transfusions in Kenya, but it did not improve her health. As her symptoms got worse, she urgently needed a half match donor transplant to survive. She was then presented to Fortis Gurugram with anaemia and low levels of platelets in her body.

Upon admission at Fortis Gurugram, the patient underwent a bone marrow testing along with certain genetic tests which revealed Pearson Syndrome. Pearson syndrome is a very rare condition that affects various parts of the body, in particular the bone marrow, pancreas, causes bleeding due to underproduction of blood and platelets, frequent diarrhoea, stomach pain, poor or stunted growth and failure to survive.

Given the complexity and rarity of the condition, a multi-disciplinary approach was adopted, where Baby Arianna was screened by team of doctors comprising of Paediatric Nephrologists, Paediatric Gastroenterologists, Ophthalmologists and ENT as this condition affects multiple organs of the body and can cause diarrhoea and eye diseases such as abnormal lens and pupil, glaucoma and hearing loss. Post evaluation, bone marrow transplant was chosen as the optimum line of treatment, as the syndrome is a multisystem condition and only a stem cell transplant can aid the treatment of Pearson.

Considering Baby Arianna did not have any siblings match, nor was there any unrelated donor available, she was taken up for transplant from her mother as a half-matched donor. Post which she underwent a stem cell transplant with a thoroughly planned chemotherapy regimen and extensive supportive care. Post the transplant, she has not required any further transfusions so far and is gradually gaining weight with no further complications.

Dr Vikas Dua, Principal Director and Head, Paediatric Haematology, Haemato Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram Said “This is India’s first successfully treated case of Pearson Syndrome. It is an exceptionally rare genetic condition which has extremely low survival rates, kids born with the syndrome usually do not survive beyond their first year. However, in Arianna’s case it’s been over 4 months now, post the transplant and she is recovering well. The condition occurs when important parts of the mitochondria's DNA are missing, leading to problems with energy production in cells. It is important to note that such conditions can be cured with right medical approach and treatment. Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant or Bone Marrow Transplantation can be a treatment option for Pearson Syndrome in cases of Bone marrow failure. The success rate for which is mere 20%."

Expressing gratitude, *Baby Arianna’s Mother said* , “The successful bone marrow transplant at Fortis Gurugram has given my daughter a second life. She has been doing well, post the transplant. There can be no greater pain in the world than to see one’s child suffer. I express my sincere gratitude to Dr Vikas Dua and his team of for saving my daughter’s life.”

New Delhi: Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj successfully performs oldest Indian patient's total knee replacectors at Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj. The doctors successfully performed total knee replacement surgery on a 97-year-old woman, enabling her to walk without support despite suffering from severe osteoarthritis. The surgery was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Dhananjay Gupta, Director, Orthopaedics, Replacement and Reconstruction, Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj, in which a team of specialists from various fields collaborated and ensured safe recovery of the patient. After the successful surgery, the patient was discharged from the hospital after her condition improved. This is a milestone in geriatric orthopaedic care. She is the oldest Indian to undergo knee replacement surgery at the hospital.

The patient, Smt. Resham Devi, who had been living independently at an ashram in Vrindavan for the last 30 years, had a fall last year which resulted in a fracture and dislocation of her left hip. Initially, she was treated with normal treatment considering her frail health, but due to hip flexion deformity and advanced osteoarthritis in both knees, she was facing serious challenges in mobility. Determined to live without assistance and with dignity, Smt. Devi decided to undergo dual knee replacement to regain full mobility.

At the time of admission to the hospital, Smt. Devi had difficulty in walking and complained of severe pain in both knees and left hip. For over six months, she underwent extensive physiotherapy and pre-surgery preparation, which included injections of teriparatide, calcium and vitamin D supplements to strengthen her bones. Despite this, she continued to have difficulty in performing daily activities and was dependent on assistance from others.

Given her age and the complexity of the case, Dr Gupta and his team initially recommended one knee replacement, followed by the other after three months. However, Mrs Devi expressed her wish to undergo replacement surgery on both knees simultaneously. After a thorough pre-anaesthesia check-up, including blood, liver and kidney tests and cardiac tests, she was cleared to undergo both surgeries simultaneously. After successful replacement of the left knee, the surgical team monitored Mrs Devi’s vital signs closely. After finding no adverse readings, they decided to perform replacement surgery on the right knee. Post surgery, she was kept in the ICU overnight for monitoring and pain management. The next day, she was ready to walk with the help of a walker, marking the beginning of her recovery journey.

Dr Dhananjay Gupta, Director, Orthopaedics, Replacement and Reconstruction, Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj said, “This was a challenging case as the patient was very old and had a complex condition. Had the surgery been delayed, she would have been left with severely limited mobility, which could have significantly impacted her quality of life and emotional health. Mobility issues in elderly patients are significantly associated with an increased risk of anxiety, depression and general decline in health. Physical mobility is important for the elderly as it helps maintain bone and muscle health as well as cardiovascular and respiratory health. We hope that Mrs Devi’s remarkable recovery and determination will inspire others to seek timely treatment for conditions that interfere with day-to-day functioning and overall quality of life.”

*Dr Gurvinder Kaur, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj said* , “This was a particularly challenging case but our dedicated team handled it with expertise and compassion. Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj is equipped with experienced doctors and advanced technology that enable us to handle complex cases and deliver high-quality outcomes. Mrs Devi’s story is inspiring, showing that age should not be a barrier to getting treatment.”

PresVu is not just a product; it's a solution that offers greater visual independence to millions, reflecting our commitment to innovation and affordable healthcare solutions."

Farmley carried out a comprehensive poll with more than 6,000 contributors across generations: boomers, Gen X, millennials, and Gen Z. As for the survey’s results, Akash Sharma, Co-Founder of Farmley, said the company focused on the diversity of tastes by different age groups. He underlined the fact that the future of snacking in India will lie within the three factors of taste, health, and sustainability. Sharma integrated these observations to conclude that India is in the middle of a snacking revolution.

This report also shows that 73% of people read labels on snacks they purchase concerning ingredients and nutritional value. Among those, 93% expressed their desire to change to a healthier product, implying that reading labels makes consumers wiser in their choices and therefore demanding such information.

Whereas the novelty of taste was once a major decision-maker, more individuals are opting for healthful foods instead of impulse snacking.

Meril Life Sciences has published its landmark trial study 'New-generation Myval Transcatheter Heart Valve series and modern (Sapien and Ewalt) THV series in patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis: a Randall non-inferiority study' in The Lancet. Indigenously developed Myval Transcatheter Heart Valve (THV) series.

This study compares the new generation Myval series and modern (Sapien and Evolt) THV series in patients with severe symptomatic localized aortic stenosis (AS). The results of the study show that the Myval THV series is no less than its world-class counterparts. The primary composite endpoint was a composite of death, stroke, major bleeding, acute kidney disease, major vascular complications, moderate or severe valve therapy, and the need for a pacemaker implant (according to the Third Valve Academic Research Consortium Consensus). Primary composite endpoint (24.7% Myvol THV series vs., 27.0% Modern THV series, non-statistical non-inferiority less than P 0.0001). This achievement reflects the success of the 'Make in India' initiative and validates India's ability to set new standards in cardiovascular care and transform heart valve treatment.

Aortic stenosis is a condition in which the aortic valve does not open completely, causing blood to not flow properly from the heart to the rest of the body. Due to this, the patient has many symptoms like chest pain, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Treatment of aortic stenosis depends on the severity of the condition. In severe aortic stenosis, the aortic valve is replaced with an artificial valve. This can be done through open heart surgery or minimally invasive procedures. A minimally invasive method of inserting a tube catheter through the femoral artery of the leg. This is called transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). The valve used in this is called the transcatheter heart valve.

The Myval THV series is a modern THV, available in larger sizes than existing THVs. In such a situation, the right fit is easily found for each patient. It is available in conventional sizes (20 mm, 23 mm, 26 mm and 29 mm), intermediate sizes (21.0 mm, 24.5 mm and 27.5 mm) and large sizes (30.5 mm and 32 mm). This wide range ensures that more patients receive the right valve for their body needs, improving treatment outcomes. And valve treatment is becoming more accessible to more people.

According to Global Principal Investigator Professor Andreas Baumbach, "This landmark study shows that the Myval THV series is safer and more effective than existing THV series. This valve has been designed keeping in mind the daily habits and needs of the general public. The intermediate size is its special feature which gives better results with precise sizing. We 10 We follow patients for years and it will be interesting to see what the long-term results of this treatment are.

The team included in the study patients with more complex cases, such as those with short aortic valves and bicuspid valves, which have only two leaflets instead of three. The Myval THV series offers larger valve openings to allow better blood flow into the aorta compared to the Sapien THV series. However, the Myval THV series offers the same valve openings as the Evolt THV series. The intermediate sizes of the Myval THV series provide a better fit for each patient size; Additionally, studying patients over the next ten years will provide more information about its long-term effects.

Mr. Sanjeev Bhatt, Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy, at Meril, said, "Amidst the successful development of structural cardiac interventions, this landmark RCT has yielded strong results for the Myval Transcatheter Heart Valve, demonstrating its potential compared to existing THV devices. None the less. This landmark study is a landmark study for the entire medical community, especially An important achievement for patients undergoing TAVI. "This study not only confirms the safety and efficacy of the Myval THV series but also highlights its adaptability to challenging body structures."

Professor (Dr) Ashok Seth, Chairman, of Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, said, “This landmark study meets the highest scientific standards, the results of which have been acclaimed by the interventional cardiology community worldwide. We are proud to say that the Myval Transcatheter Heart Valve has been researched and developed in India and is superior to the transcatheter heart valves traditionally used in western countries. "This is an important step for the Indian device industry and the medical community, which will make the life-saving treatment TAVI more accessible, affordable and effective for patients not only in India but worldwide."

<media:keywords>ORS, oral rehydration salts, Diarrhea, Dr. Mohsin Wali, WHO Ors, Summer Diarrhea</media:keywords>

Because of the scorching heat, India faces a serious challenge in dealing with dehydration, especially among children, with diarrhea being the third leading cause of death. Recent NFHS-5 data show that despite being an essential medication, only 60.6% of children with diarrhea receive oral rehydration salts (ORS), highlighting the need for awareness and proper use.

Diarrhea causes rapid fluid loss, electrolyte imbalance, and dehydration. ORS is a simple yet highly effective way to replace these lost fluids and electrolytes, preventing complications and helping speed recovery, especially in young children. It is important to understand that ORS is safe and effective. Using the wrong salt or sugar mixture can be harmful. A proper balance of water and electrolytes is essential to properly manage dehydration. The wrong home remedies or sugary drinks can upset the balance. This can cause serious health problems, massive water loss or in severe cases death.

A public awareness campaign highlights the importance of WHO-approved ORS solutions to ensure proper hydration during summer. Prolite ORS, Dr. Popular brands like Morpen ORS or ORS Valyte ORS meet these criteria and offer a safe and effective way to fight dehydration.

Dr. Mohsin Wali, Padma Shri, Consultant Physician, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, highlights the need to choose an appropriate ORS as the temperature rises, "Choosing ORS to effectively manage diarrhea and water loss is important to distinguish between ORS and commercially available sweetened drinks. Although these drinks provide some electrolytes and fluids, they provide rapid and effective hydration , contain adequate glucose-sodium for potassium imbalances, but they do not address the root problem of dehydration.Approved ORS are important for maintaining overall health and speeding recovery, especially in vulnerable populations such as children.

It is important to make informed choices. When dealing with dehydration, choose WHO-approved ORS solutions over other sugary drinks that are not suitable for treating dehydration. By understanding the benefits of ORS and its proper use, we can empower individuals and families to become their own health heroes, especially during summer. This knowledge will help save the lives of thousands of children each year.

The Global Middas Foundation (GMF), a charitable organization based in Delhi, has been dedicated to serving the community for the past three years, rooted in Sikh values of "Sarbat Da Bhala" (the well-being of all) and "Chardi Kala" (ever-rising spirits). As part of their healthcare langar sewa (community service), they have initiated numerous programs aimed at improving the healthcare landscape. These efforts include organizing health camps, distributing health cards for affordable healthcare treatments, and creating informative video series on topics like Cancer Care, Drug Abuse, IVF, Kidney Care, and Dialysis.

GMF has now unveiled an ambitious plan to establish a comprehensive cancer care awareness, detection, and treatment setup in 23 districts of Punjab, in collaboration with Arihant Hospital in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The primary objective is to reach the grassroots level in every district, including villages and towns, by adopting a hub-and-spoke model for cancer care. This initiative represents a significant step towards building a charitable social healthcare infrastructure.

The project's implementation plan has been submitted for review to various authorities, including Cabinet Ministers of the Central Government, Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in Delhi, the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), the Delhi Minorities Commission, Sikh organizations like SGPC, DSGMC, and Shiromani Akali Dal, as well as MPs and MLAs in Punjab, and the Chief Minister's Office in Punjab.

In addition to their cancer care initiative, GMF has also presented a blueprint for addressing drug abuse and addiction issues in Punjab. This comprehensive plan includes conducting awareness and detection campaigns, establishing online assistance and helpline services, and setting up drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in each district of Punjab.

Sardar Inder Preet Singh, the founder of GMF, emphasizes that these initiatives not only aim to improve healthcare but also to create opportunities for skill development and employment for the youth of Punjab. Through collaboration with Arihant Hospital and the Dev Bhumi Educational Society, GMF plans to provide training, skill development, and education to empower the local youth, enabling them to actively participate in these vital projects.

In summary, GMF, a charitable organization inspired by Sikh principles, is taking significant steps to provide high-quality, affordable healthcare services in Punjab, addressing critical issues like cancer care and drug addiction while simultaneously offering skill development and employment opportunities for the local youth.

When our intricate neural networks in the brain encounter developmental irregularities, it can give rise to a multitude of health issues and behavioral disorders. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is one such health condition, typically diagnosed during early childhood. While the term "autism" is widely recognized, a comprehensive understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder remains elusive. This article aims to shed light on what ASD is, its etiology, and the various treatment approaches available.

Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder

ASD is primarily attributed to disruptions in the development of the nervous system, particularly in the brain. These disruptions can have a profound impact on an individual's character, affecting their interactions with society, communication, cognitive functions, and behavior. While some signs may become evident as early as infancy or within the first year of a child's life, others may manifest around the ages of three or four. Some children may not exhibit noticeable signs until they start school, making parents the first observers of behavioral changes in their children.

Children with ASD often exhibit distinct behavioral patterns, including a reluctance to share their interests with others and difficulty in expressing compliments. Maintaining good eye contact during conversations may be a challenge, and their speech may appear pre-planned. Establishing and maintaining friendships can be an arduous task for them.

Moreover, individuals with ASD frequently display a preference for routine and may find it challenging to adapt to new situations. They tend to have an inflexible character and often assume that others should share their particular interests. Changes in their daily routines can be distressing, and repetitive actions and behaviors are common. Even in seemingly trivial aspects of life, like arranging toys, they may insist on strict consistency.

Treatment and Care

Families of children with ASD play a pivotal role in their care. Understanding the unique needs and challenges of individuals with ASD is crucial. Specialized training and support are essential to provide the best possible care. Early intervention is a key component of effective treatment. The aim is to address specific areas of difficulty, such as communication and social skills, and to adapt therapies to suit the individual's needs.

Behavioral therapies, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy are some of the interventions often employed. These therapies are tailored to the child's specific requirements and may be delivered by a team of professionals, including psychologists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists.

Moreover, individuals with ASD might experience heightened anxiety, which requires specialized care and support. Modern interventions include real-time training and the development of adaptive strategies to manage anxiety effectively.

In conclusion, Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex condition that affects various aspects of an individual's life. While it presents unique challenges, it also underscores the importance of early intervention, tailored therapies, and the unwavering support of families and caregivers. Through a comprehensive understanding of ASD and targeted treatments, individuals with this disorder can lead fulfilling lives and reach their full potential.

Chandigarh: Global Middas Capital (GMC), in collaboration with the Global Middas Foundation (GMF), presents an exclusive and informative documentary highlighting the remarkable achievement of Guru Harkrishan Institute of Medical Sciences & Research's Kidney Dialysis Hospital in Delhi, managed by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC). This documentary, accessible on GMF's and Sadda Khirda Punjab's YouTube and social media platforms, aims to raise awareness among both the Indian and international communities about the hospital's humanitarian and life-saving healthcare services, provided entirely free of cost.

Sardar Inder Preet Singh, the founder of GMF & GMC, emphasized that the documentary's objective is to shed light on the selfless healthcare sewa (service) being offered at the hospital for the greater good of humanity. It serves as an invitation to those who cannot afford such critical treatments, urging them to come and benefit from these services.

The documentary chronicles the hospital's journey from its inception to the present day. Within just three years of operation, the hospital has administered over 50,000 free kidney dialysis sessions to patients from all walks of life, belonging to various communities and religions across India. This achievement is even more remarkable because the hospital does not receive compensation from schemes like Ayushman Policy, CGHS, insurance, or direct payments from patients, which are typical for such medical procedures. In contrast, most kidney dialysis treatments cost a minimum of Rs. 4000 elsewhere.

The dedication and commitment of the hospital's management, doctors, and paramedical staff to the well-being of their patients are deeply appreciated and respected by all patients and their accompanying caretakers. The documentary features heartfelt testimonials from patients who have undergone multiple dialysis sessions, providing insights into their experiences, as well as the perspectives of their family members and caregivers.

Additionally, the documentary delves into the hospital's specialized and dedicated healthcare teams responsible for patient care, highlighting the exceptional quality of service. It also showcases the hospital's state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure, further solidifying its reputation as a beacon of hope for those in need of kidney dialysis.

In summary, the documentary produced by GMC and GMF serves as a tribute to the incredible work done by Guru Harkrishan Institute of Medical Sciences & Research's Kidney Dialysis Hospital, shining a light on its life-saving services and the dedicated individuals who make it all possible.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not a quick fix but a gradual journey that becomes a habit. While there's no magic solution, it's crucial to avoid haphazard approaches that can harm your physical and mental well-being. With an overwhelming amount of advice on how to live healthily, it's easy to get confused. However, there are universally accepted principles that you should never compromise on if you want to lead a happy and healthy life.

Prioritize Sleep: Sleep is not a luxury; it's a necessity. Sleep deprivation can have severe consequences on your health. To develop a healthy sleep pattern, understand your body's sleep cycle and allocate consistent time for quality rest in your daily routine.

Stay Hydrated: Water is essential for regulating bodily functions and can even aid in weight management. It's not just about the quantity but also the timing of water consumption. Aim for 1.5 to 2 liters of water daily and consider how it can help control food cravings and boost metabolism.

Maintain a Balanced Diet: A well-balanced diet provides the right nutrients your body needs. Men and women have different nutritional requirements, so tailor your diet accordingly. Imbalances can lead to health issues, so focus on getting the right amount of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other nutrients.

Prioritize Mental Health: Mental well-being is as important as physical health. In many places, discussing mental health remains a taboo, but it profoundly impacts your lifestyle. Don't ignore your mental health as it can indirectly affect your overall health. Seek support and therapy when needed.

Eat Clean: Emphasize clean, unprocessed foods in your diet. This means reducing your intake of highly processed foods loaded with salt and sugar. Opt for natural plant-based proteins and incorporate herbs into your meals. Consume smaller, more frequent meals to maintain consistent energy levels and include raw fruits, vegetables, and nuts in your daily intake. Remember, eat to live, not live to eat.

Developing these habits can lead to a healthier and happier life. While it may be challenging to change your lifestyle, gradual adjustments can make a significant difference in the long run. Make these principles a part of your daily routine, and over time, they will become second nature, helping you achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

New Delhi, 12th April 2023: Fortis Escorts Hospital in Okhla, New Delhi successfully conducted a challenging auto liver transplant on a 35-year-old female patient from Kyrgyzstan. This is the first auto liver transplant procedure in North India. The patient was suffering from abdominal pain for the past three months, and doctors diagnosed her with a parasitic infection called Echinococcosis Multilocularis, which had damaged 75% of her liver. As a liver transplant remains the only treatment option in such cases, the team of doctors led by Dr. Vivek Vij decided to conduct an auto-liver transplant.

The surgery took eight hours, during which the damaged part of the liver was removed, and a normal part of the liver was successfully replaced. Postoperatively, the patient had a fast recovery and was discharged on the eighth day of surgery without any immunosuppressant medicines, which are usually required after organ transplantation. The dissection for removing the diseased part was quite challenging as the liver was stuck with surrounding vital structures, and there was a risk of injury to vital organs, along with complications and bleeding.

Echinococcosis Multilocularis is a rare health condition, and if not treated on time and correctly, it might affect the lungs, kidneys, large blood vessels, and intestines of the patient. In most cases, a liver transplant is adopted to cure the patient. However, in this particular case, doctors opted for a novel technique – Auto Liver Transplant, where the damaged part of the liver was removed and replaced by a healthy part of the liver. Utilizing a part of the patient's own liver is a boon as immunosuppressive medicines are not required.

Bidesh Chandra Paul, Zonal Director of Fortis Escorts, Okhla, New Delhi, said that this is a significant milestone in healthcare and medical sciences, as the doctors at Fortis Escorts, Okhla, successfully performed the auto liver transplantation procedure. This is the second case of auto liver transplant performed in India, and the procedure needs a lot of experience and expertise. This was a challenging case considering the risk factors associated with it. However, the team of doctors assessed all parameters and conducted the procedure well. Fortis Escorts, Okhla, is well equipped to handle organ transplants, and they endeavor to provide the highest quality of care to patients.

New Delhi, 23 March 2023: The results of a retrospective observational study on the usage of Isotine herbal eye drops, one of the effective treatments for cataract-induced visual impairment, were released by Dr. Basu Eye Hospital, a major participant in eye care. The study was carried out by Prof. Yamini of Banaras Hindu University, Uttar Pradesh. Uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) and uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA) significantly improved after Isotine treatment, according to the study, which involved 308 cataract patients treated between 2017 and 2019.

During the study, patients were divided into four groups based on the severity of their condition. Group 1 included patients with lower power vision, group 2 had patients with vision up to 6/18, group 3 had vision up to 6/60, and group 4 comprised patients who were blind as per the W.H.O. classification.

The results of the trial showed that patients' near- and far-sightedness significantly improved after using Isotine eye drops for up to three months. A noteworthy finding was that 91% of patients in groups 1 and 2 were able to take their glasses off, demonstrating a considerable improvement in their eyesight. In addition, 47% of patients in group 3 had a decline in the severity of their glaucoma, compared to 61% of patients in group 4, who partially recovered their vision.

For 36 years, Isotine herbal eye drops have been used in clinical settings with the promise of reversing cataract-induced visual impairment. The findings of this observational study indicate that isotine likely improved cataract-related impaired distance and close-up vision through its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and protease activities, reducing lens opaqueness, bolstering the ciliary muscle, lens-growth/nutrition supply, and improving retinal sensitivity.

"We are elated to announce the results of this study, which demonstrate the effectiveness of Isotine Herbal Eyedrops in improving vision of cataract patients, “said Dr M.ahender Singh Basu, Founder of Dr. Basu Eye Hospital. He further added that “Our mission has always been to provide advanced medicinal research to benefit the maximum number of people. The positive results of this study validate our commitment to this mission and the efficacy of Ayurveda in treating eye diseases."

Prof Yamini, who conducted the study, added, “The results of this observational study are very promising and suggest that Isotine Herbal Eye Drops may be an effective treatment for cataract-induced vision impairment. Moreover, the testing of eye drops at IIT-Bombay has also proven to be a safe and effective treatment for cataracts. We hope that this study will encourage further research on the use of Ayurvedic medicine in ophthalmology.”

Dr. Basu Eye Hospital has established a world-class manufacturing unit, Jagat Pharma, to ensure that Isotine Herbal Eyedrops are of the highest quality and authenticity. Isotine eye drops, invented by Dr. M S Basu in 1978, has the ability to treat an extensive range of eye diseases, including some of the most critical ones like immature cataract.

An update to the 2022 publication, "A Bold Vision for 1 Billion Digital Health users in India by 2030," entitled "Pathways to Scale Adoption of Digital Health in India," published by the top global Strategy and Management Consultancy firm Arthur D. Little (ADL) in partnership with NATHEALTH has identified digitalization as a key imperative for the Indian healthcare sector. The business claims that consumers have a high level of acceptance for digital health services. Although only 74% of the roughly 150 respondents to the poll were aware that health services were becoming more digital, 67% of them had recently utilised a digital health solution, and 73% acknowledged the value of digital health records. The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has gained a lot of support from Indians.Around 22% of the Indian population having ABHA ID and over 75% of public health facilities already in Health Facility Registry.

The report highlights the urgent necessity for the healthcare stakeholders in the business sector to adopt digitization. Even while private healthcare providers recognise the advantages of digitization, adoption is still in its infancy, according to an ADL survey of more than 30 private healthcare providers. Because of this, only 7% of providers have embraced digitization across all operational use cases, despite the fact that 93% of respondents felt that it is advantageous.

Despite varying degrees of digitalization, ABDM adoption is still constrained among private providers of all sizes and segments. This is mostly because the advantages are not well known. The ramifications of sharing internal digital systems and data, as well as data security, are concerning to bigger organisations. Because they see digitization as an expense rather than an investment, smaller players are resistant.

1. By technological demonstrations and legislative interventions, demonstrate data security and privacy safeguards for customer health records, for bigger provider segments.

2. Communicate clearly about the ABDM roadmap with providers, emphasising the advantages of digitization and ABDM adoption.

3. Recruit early supporters and collaborators (ABDM evangelists) from top private healthcare organisations, including digitally progressive companies from the healthtech and out-of-home sectors.

4. By establishing explicit certification requirements and roll-out schedules for healthtech, senior care, and home healthcare businesses, you may broaden the scope and ambition of ABDM.

5. Require all hospitals and diagnostic facilities to utilise ABDM-compliant software, and link them to quality accreditation. To improve this, additional Digital Solution Companies (DSCs) should be encouraged to join the ABDM ecosystem.

6. By the implementation of insurance for the missing middle and a single-window Health Claims Exchange (HCX) platform, increase insurance penetration and hasten payor consolidation.

7. Expand the ecosystem of ABDM tools and software providers by streamlining and demystifying compliance procedures and requiring DSCs to furnish providers with ABDM-compliant software.

Delhi, March 5, 2023: The fourth edition of the world's only and eagerly anticipated dialysis patient program, "Indian Dialysis Olympiad' 23," was unveiled in Delhi today following the phenomenal success of the previous edition by NephroPlus, India's largest dialysis network and a pioneer in redefining dialysis care in India. Another initiative by NephroPlus to build a passionate dialysis community that restores their #WillToWin following the devastating diagnosis of kidney failure is the Olympic-style full-day mega-national event hosted specifically for Dialysis Patients.

Mr. Bajrang Punia, a legendary Indian freestyle wrestler who has won four World Wrestling Championship titles and an Olympic bronze medal, joined the brand's efforts and was on hand to encourage the athletes.

Indian Dialysis Olympiad is NephroPlus' yearly signature patient-centered event that supports dialysis patients by giving them a platform where they may play sports, socialize with other patients, and feel inspired to live lives that are as normal as possible. The participants were able to enjoy sports like badminton, table tennis, cricket, basketball, cycling, and marathon during this activity-filled event. A Karaoke session, stage and dance acts, and more were also scheduled. Gold, silver, and bronze medals were given to the champions of these particular competitions.

Mr. Vikram Vuppala, founder and CEO of NephroPlus, set the tone for the occasion by saying, "Up until kidney problems, the adage "movement is medicine" is true. There are countless limitations on physical activity as you are compelled to undergo long-term dialysis treatment to replace kidney functions. The goal of the Indian Dialysis Olympiad is to inspire dialysis patients to live fulfilling lives despite their disabilities. We offer numerous additional community engagement events because of the patients' ongoing massive participation in every event. Indian Dialysis Olmpiad'23 saw real-time champions engage with fervor and excitement despite receiving dialysis, as it does every year. To us, they are all winners."

Mr. Bajrang Punia was amazed by the guests' engagement and said, "For me, it was a cutting-edge experience. I was moved to observe dialysis patients who had congregated and were having a good time playing sports and participating in other enjoyable activities. To investigate a newly discovered significance in life, such an experience is necessary. I give NephroPlus my congratulations for the achievement of yet another Olympiad event. It is quite respectable for a company to hold such patient-focused events to show patients that they are cared for and to raise awareness across the country."

About NephroPlus: NephroPlus runs 293 dialysis facilities in 180 Indian cities across 23 states, and is renowned for its attention to patient care and quality. The company was established 13 years back with a vision to enable people on Dialysis worldwide to lead long, happy, and productive lives. The company treats 22,000+ patients per month and has performed 80+ Lakh treatments.

New Delhi, 9 February 2023: To address the country's growing orthopedic burden, the CK Birla Hospital launched India's first fully active robotic M.I.S. knee replacement program at their Punjabi Bagh facility. The most advanced surgical equipment is the state-of-the-art robot system, which is capable of 3D pre-planning, accurate assessment of deformities, and precise surgical results for exceptional patient outcomes.

The damaged tissue of the knee joint is removed and replaced with an artificial joint during robotic knee replacement surgery. Every year, over 2.5 lakh people in India undergo total knee replacement surgery. When compared to five years ago, this figure has nearly tripled. The development of fully active robotic systems and minimally invasive surgical techniques (MIS) has made it possible to conduct the treatment more safely, effectively, and with less blood loss and revision.

According to Dr. Ashwani Maichand of the Department of Orthopaedics at the CK Birla Hospital® in Delhi, "This fully active robot offers immense improvements in the area of knee replacement surgery compared to the old methods. We are combining the M.I.S. approach with robot technology for the first time in India. It combines precision and safety, is adaptable, and is easy to use. This cutting-edge technique offers patients excellent results, a low chance of infection, a quicker recovery, and less pain. We have launched this ultramodern and minimally invasive technology to ensure better care for our patients through improved diagnosis and precise results.”
